Kim Jong Un Visits 3D Theater, Video Arcade and Renovation of PY Indoor Stadium

DPRK state media reported on 14 September (Sunday) that Kim Jong Un (Kim Cho’ng-u’n) visited two new attractions at the Ru’ngra People’s Pleasure Park and the renovation of the Pyongyang Indoor Stadium.  Attending Kim Jong Un’s visits were Jang Song Taek (Vice Chairman of the DPRK National Defense Commission and Director of the Korean Workers’ Party [KWP] Administration Department), Ri Jae Il ( Senior Deputy Director of the KWP Propaganda and Agitation Department) and Ma Won Chun  (Deputy KWP Department Director).  Attending his visit at Rungra People Pleasure Park was Pak Chun Hong (Deputy KWP Department Director).  Kim Jong Un’s last observed appearance was his attending at the foundation anniversary concert of the Korean People’s Internal Security Forces’ Song and Dance Ensemble.

Kim Jong Un first visited a 3D Theater recently constructed on Ru’ngra Islet.  He  toured various room in the movie theater and was briefed about the theater’s construction.  He watched the movies Winners and Don’t Wait for Us.  According to KCNA, Kim Jong Un “praised the officials and technicians of the Mokran Video for having successfully produced 3D films requiring latest technology by devoting all their creative wisdom and enthusiasm” and said that “it is important to successfully blend rhythms with themes of films in order to let youth, children and working people feel interesting in the imaginary world the same way they do in reality, while watching 3D films.”  He also “underscored the need to put the operation of the cinema on normal footing by successfully carrying out plans for showing films and controlling equipment as the cinema is to be visited by many people in the future,” “noted that it is necessary to build such cinemas not only in Pyongyang but also in each provincial capital” and said that “the appearance of the modern cinema would help make people’s laughter ring out more loudly at the pleasure park.”  Kim Jong Un also toured a video arcade on Ru’ngra Islet.  According to KCNA he said that the “video games rooms are a gift the WPK presented to the people underscoring the need to raise the sense of responsibility and role of the service persons and successfully manage equipment if their operation is to be put on normal footing and schoolchildren and working people are to be provided with best convenience.”  He was also briefed about the management of the Ru’ngra People’s Pleasure Park and the construction of an outdoor music performance.  According to KCNA, Kim Jong Un “stressed the need for the employees of the pleasure park to manage it better as it is visited by many people and regularly operate it in the spirit of devoted service to people.

Kim Jong Un also visited the renovation of the Pyongyang Indoor Stadium.  He toured the stadium “for hours” and issued instructions on floor construction, expanding the stadium’s capacity, locker rooms and other facilities.  According to KCNA he “highly praised officials and workers of the Guidance Bureau for Overseas Construction for admirably performing the task assigned to them by the party for the remodeling of the stadium.”  He also noted that “thestadium with a long history has been successfully remodeled as required by the new century at a time when a new heyday of construction is unfolding” and expressed “expectation and conviction that the officials and employees of the stadium would always glorify the immortal leadership exploits of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il by managing and operating the stadium on a regular basis.”
