Kelly Prescott Shows Her Hillbilly Roots in Hillbilly Jewels Video!

Posted on the 02 February 2016 by Hendrik Pape @soundcheckblg

Ottawa based singer/songwriter Kelly Prescott is no stranger to the music industry, born into a musical family with ties to Northern Ontario, Nova Scotia and the Ottawa Valley there's no question her musical roots run deep. Kelly is preparing to release her upcoming album Hillbilly Jewels and today released the video for the album's title track, "Hillbilly Jewels"

When you are talking about music in Canada key regions always seem to come up, Alberta is home to cowboy country, Nova Scotia is home to Folk Country and Celtic music so plenty of fiddle and get up and go dancing music, Northern Ontario and the Ottawa Valley well those areas are home to Hillbilly country, I know it because I grew up in Northern Ontario and lived in the Ottawa Valley for a number of years. When you cross all three you get something magical, perhaps something amazing enough to be called a Jewel.

Checkout this video and when you are done be sure to check out Kelly's other video, also just released, " Battle Road ".

See for yourself why The Revue considered Hillbilly Jewels one of the 50 most anticipated albums of 2016.

Oh and one quick side note before you watch the video, if you look closely you might catch our Ottawa photographer extraordinaire make a cameo, or would that be considered an acting debut? Either way watch for Sean Sisk as himself, doing what he does best.

Field Service Tech by day, Live Music Nut by night! My family and I call the Thousand Islands region of Ontario home. I'm a blogger, social media geek, tech, and live music fanatic. I founded Sound Check Entertainment in 2010 to help promote festivals and emerging artists from across Canada and the world! I now act as festivals liaison, manage media relations and, of course, cover events in the National Capital region. I'm also a diehard Habs fan but Sens fans fear not; as long as they aren't playing against my Habs I cheer just as loud for the Sens.
