Keep Showing Up

By Jessicavenoy @lovelyjesscuh
Hello my sweet friends! I hope your week has been full of love + laughter :) It's my last week of winter break so I made sure to pack it to the brim with coffee chats and lunch dates. I've really enjoyed the freedom that accompanied winter break but (I can't believe I'm saying this) I'm actually excited to get back to school on Monday (I know, what? Ask me if I feel that way in about 3 weeks).
Speaking of school - I find out graduate school admissions decisions this semester. HELLO, WHAT? I have worked harder than I've ever worked for anything over the last year and half to make myself a prime SLP graduate program candidate. It all comes down to these next few months.
Keep Showing Up
And you know something crazy (yes, even crazier than me being somewhat excited about going back to school)? I'M NOT EVEN STRESSED OUT. If you know me at all, you know that's a big deal. Because stress used to be my middle name. I would stress out about not being stressed out because I felt like I was missing something.
But not now. And why is that? Well a few reasons. 1. I've rekindled my relationship with Jesus over the last few months. I wake up eager to spend time with Him and get in His Word. I've been reminded that He's got my back and even if things don't pan out how I have them planned in my head that He knows what He's doing and He won't leave me hanging. 2. I've given 110% to this. I sit down and reflect and there is not one thing that makes me think, "Oh hmm, probably should've done that to make myself the best possible candidate." I did everything that I could do to make myself stand out as a applicant.
I truly believe that you reap what you sow. And that gives me a lot of faith and peace about what's to come.
Which brings us to the title of this post - KEEP SHOWING UP. When you're tired, show up. When you're frustrated, show up. When you feel like you're at the brink of your breaking point, SHOW UP. Working toward a goal is tough. People tend to overlook the process of progress when it comes to working toward a goal. Outsiders only see the end result. They see you getting accepted to grad school. They see you getting that raise. They see you getting the keys to that dream house of yours.
They don't necessarily see the blood, sweat, tears, and mental breakdowns (man there have been a lot of mental breakdowns throughout this journey, you guys). They weren't there when you constantly and consistently showed up and put in the work every single day, even on the days when you didn't feel like it.
So this is me saying HI, HELLO! I see you over there putting in the work day in and day out. I see you keeping your eyes on the prize. I see you - don't stop working toward it. Keep showing up. Every day. Because it will pay off, my friend.
xo, Jess
