Featuring debutants Gautham Karthik and Thulasi Nair, Mani Ratnam’s “Kadal” is one of the highly anticipated films of this year. Known for churning several successful love stories over the years, this film will be acid test for the young actors whose reputation rests on the shoulder of Mani.
Some strongly believe that the film is set against the backdrop of Christian fishermen and narrates the love story between a Christian boy and a Brahmin girl, but we don’t know that for a fact and therefore have to wait.
Rahman’s music has already created enough buzz and hype around the film, which also stars Arjun, probably in a negative role, and Arvind Swamy with Lakshmi Manchu. Come Feb 1, we’ll know if Kadal has managed to live up to the expectations.
