Joint Dynamics at The Oriental Spa – The Landmark Mandarin Oriental – Intelligent Movement Training

By A Beauty Feature @abeautyfeature

Joint Dynamics takes you on a journey to rediscover your body movement at The Oriental Spa at the Landmark Mandarin Oriental. While you may think that moving your body is something we do naturally every day and that this aspect of your well-being is working well. The type of movement that the trainers at Joint Dynamics will take you on, will transport you back to your youth, where body flexibility, and body dynamics where just a natural way of playing.

Today we need to understand, what is a mover? A mover is someone who sees beyond the technicalities of each movement pursuit or discipline. Someone who finds interest and wishes to understand the body, health, performance and physical artistic expression.

Movement Culture represents a contemporary paradigm shift in physicality, moving us away from main culprits in movement and fitness as well as the separation between health, aesthetics, performance and art.

George my trainer had previously worked with Ido Portal founder of the movement culture ‘Movement is big’. Bigger than any specific movement discipline, it is placed within “the world of fitness, dance, martial arts, strength, flexibility, circus and more.”

While working through various movements that involve getting as near as possible to the ground, the aim is to exercise those muscles that too often in everyday working life are least activated. This is achieved by moving across the floor in a crab style position, or, by leaning back and forth with a straight back, are all movements we seldom remember doing. A handy tip from my coach, if you have any opportunity to stretch up and out, try using the overhead bars in the park or playground near you as an effective means to give your back a much needed stretch out.

These patterns and drills are a great movement practice, as this helps restore knee stabilization, increasing demands and movement complexity, and for conditioning soft tissues, joints and muscles around the knee/ankle/hip.

Another movement concept that George at Joint Dynamics recommends is best symbolized in the Fighting Monkey. Fighting Monkey is an innovative movement practice with wide applications in various fields such sports as Martial Arts, Rehabilitation, and the performing Arts. It studies how our structure and physiology interrelates with our behavior, emotions, thoughts and memories. Here the movement routine of the Fighting Monkey uses ‘Movement Situations’ that help you transform training into an activity that positively affects your daily life.

In this one-on-one coaching session, you will be reintroduced to natural body movements that remind us of the simplicity of daily exercising routines that do not require expensive equipment. Moreover, besides the joint workout routines embodied in the movement and spirit of the Fighting Monkey, activities combine exercise, cardio, and concentration, producing an instant boost of well-being. Be cautioned however that you’ll find some bodily resistance at first, as such movements may be a distant past. As your coach will remind you – do persevere, as these types of movement will make you feel revitalized, while over time, regaining your flexibility for a healthier well-being.
