So, so, so many Red Stripes. So, so much rum.

Actually, I ate so much my first week, I couldn’t stomach anymore the second week!

New Friends, Frizzy Hair & Lobster Photobombs

All three in one photo!

A Hurricane, More Or Less

Technically, I don’t think it qualified as a hurricane, but I’ve never experienced such loud and aggressive rain before. It leaked in through the roof of our accommodation and had the windows banging so loudly that I woke up shouting!

Finally Getting A Piña Colada

I asked everywhere we went, and either no one had the ingredients, or the bar tender was not working. When we got to our weekend R&R resort, I finally had success!

Island Animals, Of Course

I was warned on day one not to touch the animals, but of course, I didn’t listen. I dealt with and touched some pretty extreme mange in Malawi. I was basically invincible. YOLO.

Dive Days!

Just like the animals, I couldn’t help myself. I ended up having one of my funnest dives that day. I know you’re not supposed to touch anything unless your guide gives you the go-ahead, and this guy had me handling all sorts of things, most notably a big squishy sea cucumber!

Loneliness & Sunsets

Who wouldn’t pine for their guy when the sky looks like this and 5 years of long distance breaks you just a little?

OF COURSE… Optometry

Because officially, that’s why I went to Jamaica in the first place.

And now, I’m done with the heat for the foreseeable future. I spent roughly three months between Malawi, Zambia, Qatar and Jamaica, and now I’ve settled down on Vancouver Island. I will be here in the mist and cool rain until Christmas, recharging my batteries. After all those Red Stripes, the first step in resetting myself is to go dry for a bit. Today is day 6, and I’m feeling fine. Have you ever gone dry? For how long?
