FINISHED SINCE THE LAST UPDATE:
I’m going to put it out there that Tom Wolfe’s novel has not aged well. I’m glad I read it, but I just cannot decide whether the characters are meant to be so one-dimensional and boorish or if that is just a result of a completely changed society.
Eleanor Brown’s latest was a bit lighter fare than I’m used to reading. It made me sad that the story was about two women who have/had given up their dreams to follow the path set out for them by others.
Molly Harper is just good for my soul. Her books, as performed by my favorite narrator, never fail to make me feel better about everything. Really, they are my own personal version of therapy.
Erik Axl Sund’s novel is dark. So, so dark. Severe mental illness. Child abuse. Pedophilia. None of it is explicit but it is a draining read. Fascinating but it takes a lot out of you.
Hannah Pittard’s latest novel is less draining but equally intriguing. It is a breezy read with some intriguing themes. I need to ponder these themes a bit more.
