In the Garden This week:
As often happens at this time of the year
the temperature is on the rise
just as the Thornless Blackberries are ripening.
So I've put up some extra shadecloth that will also help to keep the feathered thieves off. They are at present feasting on most of the Mulberry crop!!!
The large pots under the back Pergola were looking miserable. This year the grapevine has grown so well it's leaves are blocking out most of the sun. I tidied the cleared out the old plants, added some new potting mix with worm casts and a few of my seedlings and cuttings. The pots were moved to the edge of the pergola right by the back door where they will get at least a little direct sun during the day.
At The Community Garden:
With some Yellow Pear Tomatoes forming I've added a lightweight bamboo tripod to keep them up off the mulch and give everything else a chance of some room. I also popped a few Sunflower Seeds around the base of the tank.
While Doc did a brilliant job brushcutting down any weed in sight I got to work on the Windbreak Bed, clearing out some weeds and liberating some more plants from the covers they were fast out growing!
