Is Smoking in a Car with Your Children Present Ever OK?

I was collecting the kids from school the other day and walking towards the school gates I passed yet another parked car, there is a stream of traffic at that time of day in the normal quiet road and normally I wouldn’t look twice into the parked cars but the window to one of the cars I was walking passed was down and smoke was being blown out of it, no big deal a mom sat having a fag while waiting for her child to finish school.

But there was a big deal as a baby that looked no older than a few months old was fast asleep in a car seat just behind mom on the back seat, yes she had the window down but how much smoke from that cigarette was being inhaled into the tiny lungs of that defenceless baby?

I do smoke so I am not ranting about smoking, I am ranting at the fact this irresponsible mother didn’t give two hoots that her baby was so close to her in a closed environment while she sucked away.

I am sure she is not the only mom to smoke in the car when her kids are there but I am betting not many would dare admit to doing it.

Am I the only one who would have to look twice to check I wasn’t seeing things?

What do you think? Is smoking in a car with your children present ever OK? Leave me a comment to let me know your views.
