One might actually find support in this statement from the Shabus - the private organization providing "public" transportation on Shabbos. According to a report on Kipa, the Shabus venture is in trouble. They have turned to their clientele saying they need support form the community in order to continue as they are not financially solvent yet and their donor is considering pulling out.
Maybe it is not so necessary after all
