As we get down to the last few finalists we introduce the first of only two cowboys in the Boots and Hearts Emerging Artist Showcase this year, Niagara Falls' Ryan Langdon.
7 Questions with Ryan Langdon
#1: Being selected as a finalist for Boots and Hearts Emerging Artist is a big deal. One of the 7 of you will perform on the Main Stage at Boots and Hearts this summer. Describe the moment you found out you made it? How did they contact you? Where were you? and has it sunk in yet?
When I found out I was selected as one of the top 7, I was really excited. So excited I might have thrown in a couple of dance moves. I was contacted through email and was at the gym at the time. The other people working out probably thought i was insane. For the last two years people would always ask, when are you going to play at Boots and Hearts. Finally I can say this year. This is a dream come true for me, And i don't think it will actually sink in until I'm there.
#2: Every artist I've spoken to has a story about how / when they decided to purse music as a career. Describe the moment that you knew that music was the path for you and what inspired you to take that path.
I knew from the day I first heard MC Hammer as a 3 year old , that being in the entertainment business is what I wanted to do. I was so busy as a kid playing sports, I never fully pursued a career in music until after I was done playing College Baseball in the United States. I had so many expectations on myself with my baseball career that when it was all over. I needed to fill the void with something. Something that i was passionate about.
#3: What's your all-time favourite movie?
My all-time favourite movie has to be "Two For The Money" with Matthew Mcconaughey and Al Pacino. Anybody that knows me knows that I have a huge man crush on Matthew Mcconaughey. I've seen every movie he has ever been in. And I mean every movie lol.
#4: Your ideal brain food?
Will I don't really know the difference between brain food and real food. I'm not the smartest person in the world. But if i had to knock something down. It would have to be Fried Chicken from Popeyes or Spicy Chicken Sandwich from Wendy's. Let's say Chicken in general.
#5: If you could see any artist in concert, who would you see (living or dead)?
If i could see any Concert, it would probably have to Elvis, Johnny Cash and Prince.
#6: Name a fictional character most like you?
A Fictional character that i feel represents me, would have to be Frank The Tank from the movie "Old School". I can be very responsible and take life seriously. But once it hits my lips, we are about to have a good time.
#7: Why should you be chosen as the 2016 Boots and Hearts Emerging Artist Showcase winner?
I feel like i should be chosen because Vocally i can go down all the different avenues of country music . I feel like im what real country music fans want and need. If you are looking for a pop country or traditional country artist, I can do them both.
