The Second part of this interview will reveal Gabrielle’s battle with her publisher and answer what’s her perfect book recipe and what makes a romance a great love story.
I’m back with author Gabrielle Bisset!
Hi Nat!
What would you like to share with us about STOLEN DESTINY, your next release?
Stolen Destiny is my first novel. I have almost like a parental feeling toward that book. Stolen Destiny is a paranormal romance, technically an erotic paranormal romance, according to the publisher, but I have to admit it’s less erotic that my novellas. It’s part of a series of books about a race of people called Aeveren.
Aeveren are descended from the archangel Raziel, and they have some very unique things about them. They live 50 lives through reincarnation, but they carry their memories with them as they move through lifetimes. Some of them also possess powers above what humans have, such as the ability to read minds, manipulate and move through time, and even the ability to manipulate others minds. But they also have been given the gift of destined ones, other Aeveren they’ve been destined for and whom they return to across time and distance over and over again.
If you could describe your main characters with only 3 words, what would they be?
Sexy, smart, and charming.
What are five fun facts about you or this book, that readers would love to know?
*I had to fight with the publisher to keep the hero, Varek, as he was–incredibly flawed. They didn’t want him to be so flawed, and claimed that readers will hate him.
That’s not really fun, but I’m still amused that romance publishers will do rape but not a flawed man who is at his heart a good soul.
*I hand write everything first. I’ve written three novels and am on my third novella, and they’re all handwritten in notebooks. (I’m hoping to make arthritis fun.)
*If my students found out what I write, I think they’d have a fit. LOL I see them being very prudish.
*The best thing about writing is the writing, but the next best? The cover art process. I just got the cover for the next novella, Love’s Master, today, and I’m like a kid on Christmas morning with that stuff. I’m all about the cover, despite the fact that I don’t choose books that way.
*I love the bad boy. I always have. I find it very difficult not to want the mad, bad, and dangerous to know man over the nice, respectable, upstanding guy. This always shows up in my books.

It’s so much fun when you have total say in them.
If you had to write a recipe to describe the elements you like to include in a book that you are writing to make it romantically delicious, what would you consider to be the perfect blend of ingredients? What makes a romance a great love story?
The hero must be strong, preferably with a dark and mysterious history, and he must be an Alpha. The heroine must be strong also. There will be no female doing stupid things and getting in the hero’s way. That irritates me. And they have to be intelligent.
The brain is the sexiest organ humans have, so intelligence is key.
And there has to be some impediment to their being together, but nothing silly. That irritates me too. Bring on the bad guy for that. And what makes a romance a great love story? Two people overcoming odds to be together. Particularly, for me, the hero must put it all on the line, That’s a great love story.

3)How did you choose the genre you write in?
I know this sounds like a cop out, but it chose me. I came up with the idea for the Destined Ones series after a dream I had (a different dream than the Vampire Dreams dream. That’s a lot of dreaming! I better get to work.) When I began writing the first book, which is still sitting in a dark place never to be seen, I had no choice as to genre because the elements fit into paranormal romance.
2) Can you tell us about some of your upcoming releases, or new projects that we can look forward to?
Stolen Destiny is scheduled for release on June 29. Then Love’s Master, the second novella set in Victorian England, will be released in mid July. The third novella in that trilogy, Masquerade, will be released in late August. Then Destiny Redeemed, the sequel to Stolen Destiny, will be released in September. By November, I plan to have the three novellas put into one paperback book. And the third book in the Destined Ones series, Destiny Unbound, will be released late this year or early next year. What a marathon!
1)My last question: how would you define “romance”?
Romance is the dance of two people coming together on a number of levels. It’s emotional, physical, intellectual, even spiritual at times.
