#InspireMonday: Looking for What Is Not Lost

By Dr Gbenga Adebayo @dradebayo

lost-and-found

Happy Monday!

Thank you to everyone that reached out to say kind words about the last post on Understanding Intents. Your kind words are appreciated.

Life can be likened to a treasure hunt. We are all seeking for gems that we believe will give our existence meaning and substance. Consumed by this search for meaning and substance, we run the risk of falling into a mental and sociological trap. We run the risk of furiously looking for what is not lost.

When you have departed from me today, you will find two men by Rachel’s tomb in the territory of Benjamin at Zelzah; and they will say to you, ‘The donkeys which you went to look for have been found. And now your father has ceased caring about the donkeys and is worrying about you, saying, “What shall I do about my son?” ‘ 1 Samuel 10:2 (NKJV) Emphasis mine

In 1 Samuel 9, Saul set out to look for his father’s donkeys that had gone missing. He searched far and wide and lo he could not find them. He searched mountains, valleys, plains and town after town. But he could not find the donkeys. Why? The donkeys were no longer lost. They had been found. He was looking for what was not lost. Now, I know that in this particular story, divinity was at work in orchestrating an encounter between Prophet Samuel and Saul. Nonetheless, the reality of life is that many are searching (furiously) for what is not lost.

The Christian that goes from “camp” to camp, church to church seeking for power and “deliverance” is looking for what is not lost. The power of God is at work in you. Stay where He has planted you. The citizen that believes s/he cannot be successful unless in a foreign country is looking for what is not lost. He is the God of the whole earth. He can and does bless all over the earth. The slothful worker praying for “miraculous” billions is looking for what is not lost. He blesses the works of our hands.

Enjoy you week!
