Yes, those blue cushions need to go.  They are old, worn, and NOT going to work with my color palette.   I want to paint over all the exposed raw wood as well and brighten the whole inside with light and clean colors.

The AC is going to stay.  Heck, I live in Florida, it gets really hot.  I probably won’t need it when traveling north as much, but down here, it will be quite handy, I’d say.  See how bad the cushions are?  And I think they were original, so they are 44 year old cushions and smell like old camper.  The curtain rods are barely hanging on and I’ll be looking for fabric to redo the curtains too.

The flooring is vinyl squares that are in overall good shape except on this rear landing area.  A few were beginning to curl up and the adhesive under was seeping out of the cracks.

First things first, I removed all the curtains and cushions.   This alone brightened the inside.

My dear daughter removed all the doors and drawers for me.   Now, these as well as the inside will be easier to paint.

When removing all the cushions from the back gaucho (couch that turns into bed), we found our first evidence of previous water damage.  In trying to determine if it was salvageable, we realized it was not and made the bold decision to remove the back wall.

And now we find where the original tail lights used to be (they are now on back bumper) and find that the holes were filled with DAP.  We are going to repair with Bondo.  The Bung Hole wording was already there, we did not write that, but chuckled a little about it.

OK, back wall is out and bad vinyl flooring on rear step-up landing is removed, thanks again to my new Rockwell oscillating saw.   Man, this tool has come in so handy for this project.

I used it again to cut out larger electrical workboxes for the new lighting and for removing all the old tile mortar from backsplash as well.

I can’t wait to add some paint and new flooring, but first we need to finish putting in lights and switches and now a new wall.   Glinda also got a new roof, but I’ll share that later this week.   It’s been hard to find time to work on her with the time changing and so many other things I have going on at same time, but I know it’s going to be worth it.

Until next time, live your dream today!
