Indiana Blogs: See Meggie Run

Indiana Blogs: See Meggie Run

See Meggie Run is an Indiana blog that will motivate and inspire you to get up off that sofa already and get moving–Meggie blogs about running!

Don’t think her blog is laying dormant this winter either. Ice and snow or not, Meggie gets out there and gets moving.

You can read the tips and tricks she’s picked up along the way and her marathon training methods. New Year, new goals, right? Read Meggie’s blog and make this the year that those resolutions stick!

Indiana Blogs: See Meggie Run

Why did you start See Meggie Run?
The first blog I had was reading focused – I reviewed all the books I read so others would have place to go to find new book recommendations. But for some reason one day, I wrote a post about running instead of reading and received a lot of wonderful feedback about it.

With the recommendation from a friend, I decided to dedicate a blog to my running experiences and confessions. My motivation was twofold: first, provide an outlet to talk about my ups and downs as a runner and secondly, to hopefully inspire others to pick up the sport. The blog is over 2 years old and I have loved every bit of it!

What about that name? Why See Meggie Run?
Naming a blog is a pressure-filled task! I wanted something easy to type and spell but was also conscious of choosing something that wouldn’t limit what I could write about (so avoided things like “Running tips.”) I learned to read on my mom’s old Dick & Jane school books – one of which being “See Dick Run.” A minor modification and it just stuck.

What are three of your most favorite posts?

  • I like talking about why I run. Because it’s much more than something I do for fitness. So this post is one of my favorites: Why I Run.
  • I always write race recaps (and usually recaps of my weekly long runs) and this one is a favorite. The Nike Women’s Marathon review.
  • I travel quite a bit for work and love seeing a new city while running. I call these Runsplorations. Here is one from Kansas City.

What keeps you ready and raring to post? Why do you blog?
Blogging and running have become like peanut butter and jelly to me: I like both on their own but each strengthens the flavor of the other.

When I run, I think about what I want to write. When I blog, I am often re-inspired to get out and run. A lot of that inspiration comes from my readers. I have met so many incredible athletes with such motivating tales through this blog. And nothing compares to a beginner runner informing me about how he/she has conquered his/her first race.

There is quite a running community out there and I think we all feed off each other through blogs and social media.

You run…a lot! Do you have a favorite race memory you want to share?
My favorite race of all time was the London Marathon. I raised money for the Parkinson’s UK Foundation which is very personal to me.

I achieved a personal best in that race, ran in a tutu, peed on the side of a street, ran by Big Ben and Parliament and crossed the finish line right next to Buckingham Palace.

Any embarrassing marathon or gym memories you’d like to share? We could all use a laugh!
Oh do I! I used to go to the gym at 5am and had plenty of stories from those days (see here and here).

And then there were the times I forgot my towel.

And of course I can’t forget the time I showed up an hour late to a race. Oops!

And though this has nothing to do with running….it was one of my funnier experiences to blog about.

If you could have a super power, what would it be?
I would like to be invisible. I am very curious by nature and would spy on a LOT of people. Closed door meetings? Not when I am wearing my invisibility cloak! First dates? Oh don’t mind me as I pull up right between you and listen to your awkward conversation. And oh the pranks I could play!!!!

Is there anything else that you would like little Indiana readers to know about you or your blog?
I love writing and running and engaging with others about both. I especially love meeting new runners and hearing great stories from when you’re hitting the pavement so leave me comments so we can connect!

Going, Going, Gone

I don’t know about you, but reading See Meggie Run almost makes me want to trade in my bicycle for a pair off running shoes! Thanks to Meggie for allowing us a peek into her busy running-filled world!
