If You Could Only See by Tonic.

Posted on the 28 June 2012 by Melodicwisdom

I remember hearing this song on the radio growing up. I always considered it to be the “sister song” to Duncan Sheik’s, Everything You Want…they were released about six months apart.

If You Could Only See was released as a single in April of 1997 from the band’s debut album, Lemon Parade. It went to #1 on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Tracks and is their highest charting single to date. It was also successful in Canada, making #1 on Alternative 30.

There’s no background info on the lyrics but in my opinion, it reminds me of an affair. The man is trying to end the relationship with one of the girls because she lies and manipulates. The other girl truly loves him and he finally sees how much she cares about him. I’m not sure if I’m on track with this so Tonic, if any of you guys read this, correct me if I’m wrong, okay?

Above is a live performance from Conan.
