I sort of felt for a minute last night that How I Met Your Mother got its mojo back. The episode had the makings of a classic, it really did.  Now that he and Robin are engaged, Barney was going through one night stand withdrawal and became obsessed with Ted "proxy banging" a 20 year old. It turned out that the 20 year old in question was Barney's 1/2 sister.  Yeah that part was a little bit ridiculous and the show went a little off the rails when Barney wanted Ted to marry his baby 1/2 sis because of what happened under (or above) the covers. The episode did redeem itself with Robin's musical number, the creation of the word "bro-nnection" and Marshall's enormous hand.  Here's my issue though, there was nothing, not an inkling, a clue, or a flashback to last week...nothing that had to do with THE MOTHER!  You can't dangle that carrot, give us that crumb, and then give us nothing. It's not enough. So, net/net I walked away feeling unsatisfied and a bit annoyed.

I know I say that this blog is family friendly, but I'm guessing that there aren't any readers under the age of 21, so I need to just say this, and I truly apologize if I offend any you, but for anyone that watched Real Housewives of Beverly Hills last night, did you happen to see Camille Grammar's cleavage? OMG please tell me you did and you know what I am talking about.  Once I got past Camille and her you know what looking cleavage, it was back to dinner parties, drama and Yolanda. We did learn a little bit more about her this week. She was married to that guy with the crazy house,  Mohammid for 7 years. If you were curious as to where all that money came from...Ritz Carltons! Mohammid built them all (among other things). Yolanda has done a lot of the decorating for Mohammid's properties and has become a REALLY good negotiator quite frankly.  She got the price of a painting down from 14K to 8K...I'd say that's pretty good. More on Yolanda, she revealed that between Mohammid, David Foster and herself they have a total of 12 kids. Good thing they are all bajillionaires then right?  I'm also obsessed with everyone's patios and their moss borders...I need that in my backyard, is it only possible in LA? Pretty sure this is the first time that Paris Hilton made an appearance on the show.  If you're a REAL RHOBH fan then you know that Paris is Kim and Kyle's niece, so it would make sense that she show up at a family function from time to time right?  Well she did and she came across like an idiot, but why would we think otherwise?

I don't remember the last time my husband wanted to watch a primetime, non sports, show with me, but last night he wanted to watch the new Kevin Bacon show, The Following.  We are both Kevin fans and even though I had seen the pilot last May, I watched the show again.  It's really scary.  At least for me it is.  The show is good, my husband gave it a thumbs up although he thought all the dead prison guards at the beginning looked pretty fake, he will be watching again.  Me...don't think so. I don't like when people get stabbed in the eyes and I definitely don't like being scared in my own house like that. For anyone that didn't watch, Kevin plays an ex-FBI guy named Ryan Hardy who has a drinking problem and a bad heart. He has a history with a serial killer named Joe Carroll who escaped from prison to finish off Boone's sister from Lost.  Now, thanks to the Internet, Joe has a bit of a cult like following and it looks like Ryan and Joe will work together to catch these freaks.  For anyone who remembers Silence of the Lambs...yeah there are a lot of similarities here, but the show is good.  I won't be back, but Rich Carruba will be. News & Information:
I've been getting into some light reading...not The Hunger Games or 50 Shades...nope, I'm into the Nielsen Cross Platform report these days...To be honest, first time in a while I can throw a compliment Nielsen's way...here's some great info from the report.  More to come too!
  • Americans spent more than 34 hours per week watching TV in 3Q 2012.  (+1 hour and 18 minutes over 2Q 2012)
  • We are also spending 5 hours a week on our computer screens, the Internet and watching video content.
  • While most shows are viewed within the first 7 days, a handful gain viewers from days 8-29.
  • Among top 10 shows in broadcast and cable to report viewing beyond 7 days, just over five percent of viewing occurs in the 8-29 day time frame and only one percent for syndication. Some of the top shows are adding up to an entire rating point in this expanded period.
  • Among the top 10  8-29 day time shifted broadcast programs, 63.9% of the audience watched live, 95.3% watched within the first seven days and the remaining 4.7% of viewers watched between 8-29 days.
  • Mobile viewing activity increased 25% vs. the same quarter last year.
  • Watching video on the Internet was up 36.9% vs. the same quarter last year.
  • Smartphone penetration continues to be highest among ethnic persons with 63% of African Americans, 61% of Hispanics and 71% of Asians in the US owning smartphones.

Tuesday's Trivia Question: In the new show, The Following Kevin Bacon's character is named Ryan Hardy.  No relation (at this point) to those other detectives, Frank and Joe Hardy.  Can you name both Hardy Boys actors?
