I Wasn’t Finished!

By Shawnaschuh
Xian Huashan Mountains shuttle bus

Got the shuttle from the airport and I stood in line in the sun until the bus came – there were only three parties waiting the 15 minutes it took.

The driver was a woman and the tone of her voice when she asked the couple behind me where they were going was spent – so to be helpful I said, “I’m going there too.”

“One at a time please!” she rebuked me – her tone stern.

I said nothing.

After I gave her my bag in silence on both parts, I began to walk to the front of the shuttle and she barked, “Your ticket!”

I gave it to her and got on the bus.

Feeling chastised I began to think bad things about this lady – until I caught myself. Driving a shuttle must not be her chosen line of work – or at least it appears that way.

I remained silent – though she asked if the group wanted to hear about sites and someone in the back yelled yes.

The tone didn’t warm up much as she rattled off the names of the hotels and sights.

These was a pause  – so I said, “Thank you!”

“I wasn’t finished!” she retorted. Again I felt chastised…

How often have I been sharp toned with others? I pray not often – however maybe more than needed.

This woman, though unpleasant to be around taught me a lesson and now I get to share it with you.

Be nice. Use a pleasant tone of voice. Accept all compliments even if they come premature and on a bad day – stay home!

Remember – you create your day by the way you think. Make it magnificent!

Blessings, Shawna
