I Must Confess … These 5 Things Will ALWAYS Make Me Cry!

By Yourfamilysurvivalcoach @shari_brewer

Hi, my name is Shari and if you drop your hat, I’m likely to cry. Come on, you know the idiom.

Nah, not entirely and I swear on my Kleenex that there was in fact a time, many moons ago, when I was renowned for being a bit of a hard nut. Back in those days, not many tears at all fell from these eyeballs at all. They were super dry.

But WHAMMO …… I birth myself a couple of kids and the facade quickly comes tumbling down …. and now I’m a certifiable sooky la-la when it comes to these 5 things that are positively, without fail, guaranteed to make my eyes leak:

1. TV shows or movies where the characters are forced into goodbyes. I hate goodbyes, they suck. For all of you my age out there (ahhherm) with fond memories of the M*A*S*H television series … the final movie length episode “Goodbye, Farewell and Amen” had me sobbing for days. Chest heaving, snot dribbling sobs. Does that make me weird?

2. My kids {loveheart inserted here} … the oldest 2 live within the framework of a shared custody arrangement and their Dad and I each have them 50% of the time. If cloning were legal things would be better, but alas when they are away from me, and I think too long and too hard about them not being here, I cry.

3. Funerals always, always, always make me cry – even if I’m not overly close to the deceased and am going to support someone else in their grief or maybe because I’m obligated to go (you know the case?) …. as soon as that organ starts playing and I see the family come in … that’s it, all done and dusted for me. I’m gone. Game over, makeup ruined.

4. Ceremonies are guaranteed tear jerkers for me – Anzac Day Ceremonies being by far the worst as it’s impossible for me to listen to the Last Post with a dry eye. Rites of passage events such as graduations also can cause this type of reaction, luckily not to the same teary extent. I do LOVE the history of Anzac Day but I would prefer it without the inevitable runny-eyed emotion it evokes.

5. Of course serious overtiredness, the kind where no end ever seems in sight, makes me so very teary and then I’ll cry at most things – you can even give me a hardluck tenant story on A Current Affair and there’ll be tears. And then I’m guaranteed to feel like a right royal dick … so possibly more tears about that. Can’t win really, can I?

I must confess … these 5 things will ALWAYS make me cry!

So, there you have it. I’ve confessed to being a cry-baby. Your turn now .. what makes you cry?

Linking up with Kirsty at My Home Truths, where this week’s confession linky will have others shedding what brings tears to them. Go and give them some loving …. and some tissues!
