THE SHOWS
I Heart Music Awards
I was home on Saturday night and caught some, okay, all of the Kids Choice Awards. C'mon, there IS something about seeing celebrities get slimed for the kids. Last night's I Heart Music Awards felt a bit like Groundhog Day in some ways. We had Paul Blart (aka Kevin James) Nick Jonas, Iggy and J-Hud doing "Trouble" (I like Sean Hayes and his husband's version better.)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nzn59_J4W_U. On Saturday night, it was Angelina Jolie's speech about being different that went viral, but last night it was Justin Timberlake's. JT's was brilliant. Here you go if you haven't seen it yet. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kUv-iDVwZHo Taylor Swift was the big winner with grace, dignity, 3 awards and a new side job as Madonna's guitarist. Was it me or was Jamie Foxx totally offensive most of the night? I blipped through Jamie and Chris Brown's performance. I was totally annoyed by both of them for the night so I didn't feel like watching them. I liked all of the "My Journey" clips. Some were more interesting than others but a decent time filler. I still feel really bad for Kelly Clarkson. It's not the fact that she's a heavier girl, but can't she get a stylist who can pick out better options? Kelly's legs are THICK and desperately in need of some fabric. That short number she was sporting wasn't working at all. Snoop Dogg was in the house. Who's he texting right in the middle of the show? His weed dealer? What was up with Rhianna? Why pick THAT song to perform in front of a billion kids? When all was said and done, the show ran early and a Ryan Seacrest used his amazing countdown abilities to save the day. When all else fails, countdowns are good fillers.   Madam Secretary
Elizabeth was dealing with a bunch of stuff last night. IIf you ask me, her plate was already full with her Secretary of State gig, a husband, 3 kids and some lingering PTSD, but then when your boss is the President of the United States and asks that her husband fly super fast to Bolivia to save a bunch of cult followers from killing themselves. It could have been just too much. Add the continuing saga of her sleeves and then, if allllllll that wasn't enough, she found out her daughter is dating her boss who just so happens to be 20 years older than her. Gotta give Liz credit, she stayed pretty calm compared to Henry.  (Then again, she's got the Xanax in her pocket, it's easy to stay calm with those puppies) He wasn't a happy camper at all. Didn't he remember that Arthur used to be the scientist dude from Lost? Matt wrote the Secretary a hilarious speech for a fundraiser that totally killed. His ego exploded pretty quickly and he somehow found a Sunglass Hut on the way to the office. Maybe that's what Daisy needs...sunglasses to hide her Sleepy Resting Face. That or a nap.   The Good Wife Alicia came back to the office after winning the States Attorney gig, but no champagne to celebrate. Apparently you can only drink the cheap stuff if you're a government employee. All those awesome gifts...garbage, I guess. No time to enjoy the moment anyway though. Lemond Bishop, Eli and Lou Grant all stopped by to suggest candidates for her second in command. Of course she had her own idea, Finn, which isn't a good idea at all. You know how that's going to turn out. Doesn't she know the "Don't Sh*t Where You Eat" rule by now? An email hacker added to the madness. Luckily the first round of emails released didn't include any of  Alicia's but they sure screwed everyone else over big time. If you didn't know already not to use your work email for personal commentary, you should know now. Yeesh what a mess! It seemed like the crisis was averted but the scenes next week make it look like Alicia is going from the frying pan to the fire. Hart of Dixie Series Finale After watching the Hart of Dixie finale, I'm pretty confident that it was, in fact, the SERIES finale. It was the cutest ending ever and yes, I did cry. We got all of our answers, happy endings for everyone in Bluebell and even an awesome musical number that I can't seem to find anywhere online. Hart of Dixie lasted a lot longer than any of us expected, so we can't feel bad for it, but I'll definitely miss shirtless Wade, LeVon, Zoey, George, AB and even Lemon. Hart of Dixie was just cheesy, cutesy, fun, light, enjoyable television. I'm pretty satisfied with where everyone ended up and I'm pretty sure most everyone in the cast has work so I'm not too worried about them. The CW cancelled some shows that did worse, ratings wise than HOD and kept shows that did worse too (Beauty and the Beast, Reign) and they moved the show around a ton and never really gave it the promotional boost it could have used but we did get 4 seasons out of it so I'm not going to come down too hard on them. I just feel like this one never got its due.  Goodbye Bluebell.
