I will never get used to seeing myself in magazines, its the second time in 3 months and still its rather weird when you buy one of your regular magazines and there you are staring out of the page. Nakita on the other hand loves it.

I am very proud of my daughter and her somewhat shocking confession has only brought us closer together. I say shocking confession as sadly not everyone has supported Nakita and only this morning she told me her great gran (on her dads side) had passed a comment about gay weddings and how they should be banned as gays are disgusting.

I have tried to explain to Nakita that some people have very wrong views and some are just stuck in their own little world. She finds this difficult to understand as she has been brought up to respect and value everyone else.

It was hurtful for her to hear someone she thought who loved her could say such a damaging comment. I am angry and would like nothing more than to phone my ex husbands Gran and give her a few tips about dealing with her teenage great granddaughter, but I know I can’t always fight the world.

My thirteen year old daughter is gay, pure and simple and anyone who wishes to pass judgement has every right too, but I love my daughter no matter what.

Its sad that the older generation can not adapt to the changing world. Her Great Gran is very religious but I was not aware that God  loves and cherish’s a child who’s sexuality is straight. Perhaps she should speak with her vicar, I would love to hear what his views are.

Non the less I know its going to be a rocky road at times for her, living in a world that judges we are surrounded by narrow minded people. Thankfully she has a very supportive network of  other family and friends.
