“I Cannot Remember the Last Time I Had This Much Energy”

By Dietdoctor @DietDoctor1

Over people have signed up for our free two-week keto low-carb challenge. You'll get free guidance, meal plans, recipes, shopping lists and troubleshooting tips - everything you need to succeed on a keto diet.

Here are new amazing stories from the people who've taken the challenge:

I didn't make any of the recipes because I don't like to cook and anything that has more than four ingredients just makes my eyes glaze over. My approach was to throw some meat on the grill for dinner every night and have it with vegetables either sautéed in butter or steamed and smothered with butter. The leftover meat would go on a salad for lunch the next day. I did have eggs in one form or another (scrambled, fried, hard boiled) every day for breakfast. I gave up putting stevia in my coffee halfway through, just have heavy cream now.

I lost half a pound (0.23 kg) and half an inch (1 cm) off my waist. I'm 5'2" (157 cm) and weigh 101 pounds (48 kg) and according to BMI that's underweight but I have this roll of fat around my waist I can't ever seem to get rid of. I'm going to do intermittent fasting next to see if that will get it off.

Love your site, thank you for your great work!
Deborah

Hi Dr. Andreas, Just finished the two week challenge and signed up for the membership.

Sugar cravings are really low and it is easy to stay on the diet.

The meals/recipes are very good and easy to prepare. Sugar cravings are really low and it is easy to stay on the diet. Ketosis was achieved the next day, but I did not realize I should not be taking metformin while on the diet. I stopped taking it about day 5. I stayed in ketosis the whole time, but because of the Metformin, the ketones went to 8 mmol/L on one occasion. They have been normal 1.5 - 4.0 since. I checked my blood sugar, and it was fine both before and after meals. I am not diabetic, but have a meter.

Although very happy with the meals and recipes, and all the wonderful information, the weight loss has been extremely disappointing at a measly 2 lbs (1 kg). I have Hashimoto's and hypothyroidism and take NDT (thyroid meds) twice daily. My TPO aB are low, almost to "normal range". TSH is less than .05.

Hashis is the reason I suspect for the low weight loss. The good part is, with the diet, there is no puffiness in the afternoon/evening and my clothes are still comfortable. Maybe it will take a little longer for me, but I am still hopeful that it will work and willing to try another month or two to see if my body will shift into fat-burning mode. Also, I am 60 years old which may be another reason. I am also doing Bio-identical hormone replacement. I am very active for my age with a full time business, and five horses to care for daily.

Any tweeks, or suggestions to get this going for me would appreciated. The website is amazing and such a blessing for so many.

Thank you for all you are doing to help people get healthier.
Barbara

I am so grateful that I came across Dietdoctor.com. I found your program a little over two weeks ago when I "googled" keto diet. For the past two years, I have been eating a low-carb, high-protein, low-fat diet. The food I was eating was the same old thing, week in and week out. I dropped some weight but could not cut the belly fat. The answer from my trainer was always the same, you are not following the diet 100% or I needed to work out more. My doctor was telling me my fasting sugars were high and I didn't know what to do.

Wow the food tasted so much better then what I had been eating. It was the first time I felt full in two years.

Then I started hearing about keto. What I was reading on the internet was confusing and there were a lot of opinions on the subject. Your website was exactly what I needed. When I made the first couple of meals I was so confused when I was adding butter and "fat" to the recipe. I really couldn't believe this was right, but I stuck with the recipe. Wow, the food tasted so much better then what I had been eating. It was the first time I felt full in two years. By feeling full after eating I found I didn't get hungry between meals, and I ate less at my next meal. I am signing up for the 30 day free trial and I am telling everyone who will listen to check out your website. Thank you for creating this program.

In summary, myself and my husband both think it's fantastic!

I cannot remember the last time I had this much energy, or when I last slept so well.

We have both lost 5.5 pounds (2 kg) over the challenge, this has amazed me after struggling to lose that amount over the last year on a well known low-fat diet. I cannot remember the last time I had this much energy, or when I last slept so well. I feel less stressed and dare I say, happy for the first time in a long time. Something has just clicked with us, it feels so natural and right to eat this way. I'm so glad I came across your site and the menus, they have helped enormously easing us into this way of eating. So a big thank you from us!

One thing I would change about the menus, or would like to have the option of, would be to vary the servings per meal, our son isn't always at home so it would be nice to be able to change some meals for 2 people and others for 3 when he will be around. It's not a big deal though I just thought it would be useful 😊

Best regards,
Amanda

I loved the low-carb challenge.

I am very happy to have found your website (on the recommendation of a very inspiring person who has lost 85 pounds [39 kg] on low carb). I am 56 years old and am always trying to lose weight. It has been getting more and more difficult. I am 5'7 (170 cm) and got up to 167 pounds (76 kg). I recently have been put on a sleep apnea machine. This, plus my son's upcoming wedding, is additional motivation.

I had joined a gym and was eating what I thought was a good diet and barely lost 3 pounds in 2 months. I did your 2-week challenge and lost 7 pounds (3 kg). I am so excited and motived to continue. My husband is always frustrated when I go on a diet because of what we end up having for dinners, but he has loved the meals I have cooked from your recipes. He is happy to be somewhat doing it with me and has also lost weight. I love your meal plans and grocery list.

Thank you!
Mark

It's still surprising to me how I can eat a lot more fat and still lose weight.

So far the diet besides making me feel a little strange is working very well. It's still surprising to me how I can eat a lot more fat and still lose weight. I'm also losing a lot of water because of the lack of carb intake.

I am doing my best to follow your guidelines. As a senior I cannot afford all the ingredients in the recipes, however I have been following the basic tenor of the program for two months. I can't be sure of how much weight I've lost since my scales are not accurate, but I weigh somewhere around 310 lbs (140 kg). I did measure myself when I first started and I have lost 5 inches (13 cm) on my waist 3 inches (8 cm) measuring just below the belly button and four inches (10 cm) off the top. And I am getting into clothing that I haven't worn for more than a year.

I am committed to this program as I suffer with several injuries and I also have never tolerated carbohydrates well. Now that I am over 60 I find I can no longer put up with the inflammation that comes from eating the sugars. Since starting the program I am feeling healthier and stronger everyday. It's been slow progress since I do have some days where I'm not feeling my optimum but so far I feel very rewarded.

I have tried your program several times in the past but without the proper degree of commitment, and trying to get over the sugar addiction hasn't helped me at all. But I now feel that I have real determination to improve my health this time and the confidence that this program is the right one for me since it is helping a great deal already. I believe my metabolism is asleep however it has to wake up sometime.

I'm so glad that your website is so established and it gives me the confidence to keep trying since there are so many success stories. And I am determined to add my success story to the list no matter how long it takes me. Stay tuned.

Thank you very much,
Judy

I've never been on a diet before. I like the fact that you can eat until satisfied but still have cravings for carbs.

I started my diet two weeks ago and lost a pound (0.25 kg) a day during the first week and around 2 pounds (1 kg) in the second week.

I loved it! Very easy to do. This is my third week and I finally couldn't stand it any longer, I had to get on the scales. I'm down 12 lbs (5 kg)!

Tracy

I have battled my weight from adolescence to this very day. I have tried pretty much everything out there. I have been very happy with the LCHF way of eating these last 2 weeks. I don't have a very reliable scale but I think I'm down 5 lbs (2 kg), but even better is how I am feeling!!! I am amazed at how I feel full all day and have only once or twice needed to find a snack to get me through to the next meal. I have also increased my exercise workouts and find I have more energy all day. I have 3 years until I turn 60 and my goal is to be the most fit and lean I have ever been!!!

I am waiting on a new credit card (recently had wallet stolen and am replacing cards) and once I get that I will be signing up to continue on this path.

P.S. My only suggestion for improvement is to provide a little more detail on portion sizes.

Thank you,
Mary
