Not long ago I did a post about running an operating system from a USB Drive. Now I would like to have a look at some of the other things you can do with a USB Drive.The thing that I like best about USB drives other than the ability to take your files with, is the ability to run Portable Applications.
A Portable Application is a program that can run from a USB Drive, and they come in a wide variety. Applications like Web Brousers, Office Programs, Music Players, PDF Readers, Games and Email Applications.
These application are very helpful to people like myself, when I am at work I have to use a different PC all the time, I do not have a computer that has been allocated to me, I have to use any that is available at the time I need to work, and because I work in education, they do not all have the software on that I need. Some websites and email programs are blocked at work, so I need these Portable Apps if I want to read my email from my hotmail account.
