How to Choose the Right Bridesmaid Shoes

By Fashionistafever @Fashionistafeve

To create your perfect wedding day, attention to detail is essential. This can also be very stressful. Little things, like the accessories your bridesmaids will wear, can easily be forgotten or seem like too daunting a task.

Of course you can always leave this up to them. However, if you are more of a perfectionist or have had a grand vision of what every aspect of your special day will be like since the age of twelve, you might want to make sure things like this do not pass under your radar.

The first thing to think about is what criteria your bridesmaid’s shoes must fulfil. First they must be comfortable. Grumpy bridesmaids are the last thing you want on your special day as they are supposed to be helping and supporting you, not to mention celebrating with you!

If their shoes are comfortable, they are also likely to wear them until the end of the evening meaning that everyone will be looking their best in your wedding pictures throughout the entire night.

Who are your bridesmaids?

The next relevant thing to consider is whether your bridesmaids are children or older. If they are young, light colours are a bad idea as kids are prone to running around outside and getting dirty whatever the time of year or occasion.

If they are adults, you must find the right balance between comfy, elegant and sexy. Though you may want to look the best and be the star of the day, this does not have to mean you have to make your bridesmaids look worse in order to compliment you. There is no doubt that you will be the only one in white and the focus of all the attention so, unless you have a grudge against your friends, you want them to feel good in their outfits too.

Keeping everyone happy can be difficult as everyone has different tastes, heel walking abilities and suits different styles. You may also have chosen unique dresses for each of your bridesmaids in which case different shoes might be required.

One friend may refuse to wear anything higher than an inch for longer than half an hour; another may insist that she cannot look good in anything lower than three inches.

Luckily there are many styles out there so all your bridesmaids can feel happy and look beautiful on your big day.

Choices to be made

What will work best is to start with something simple. First choose your colour. Next decide whether you want closed toes or peep toes.

Maybe sandals if it is a summer wedding, or sling backs?

Once these decisions have been made, as long as the design stays simple, you can look around for shoes that match this criteria but that also come with a variety of heel heights. If you cannot find ones that match exactly you can think about making an addition, for example a homemade floral piece, as this will give them a unified look.
