How To Beat Hay Fever and Enjoy The Summer!

Posted on the 08 July 2013 by Rohan @rohanforsale

Hayfever2Hay fever ruins the brightest, warmest months for many people. Sufferers dread Spring and summer like most others dread the cold, wet winter! Sadly those with hay fever put up with the symptoms of itchy and watery eyes, itchy and runny nose, sneezing, sniffling, stiffness, drowsiness and nose blowing for year after year without respite. And when searching for a cure we are inundated with sprays, tablets, drops, herbal supplements, acupuncture and a whole host of other medical, homeopathic and alternative treatments. It’s enough to make your head spin! But there is one cure that seems to just work!

The Miracle Cure

I’ve had hay fever pretty bad in the past, particularly the previous 4 or 5 years. Thankfully this year hasn’t been too bad at all, barely a sneeze or sniff. My brother Alex, however, has been suffering miserably. His symptoms have never been worse than they are this year! So we did a little research, surely there’s a safe, natural remedy for hay fever that really works, right?! Yes there is. The answer is Apple Cider Vinegar and honey. After just 2 days of the apple cider vinegar (from this point refereed to as ACV) and honey his symptoms simply vanished. The result was stunning!

But How?

So how exactly does this cure work? Well I’m no scientician but from what I understand the honey works by building a tolerance to pollen as there may be trace amounts of plant pollen present in some organic honeys. However the highly filtered, clear honey will contain no pollen at all. Honey is created by bees from plant nectar and this plant product may also help increase our tolerance to other plant products such as airborne flower and grass pollen. The ACV on the other hand is a little more mysterious. Insufficient research has been conducted into ACV as an anti-inflammatory. The truth is no one current knows exactly why so many people claim that it has eradicated their hay fever symptoms for good!

Step by Step

Here’s how the cure works:

1 – Pour two teaspoons of ACV into a glass.

2 – Fill the remainder of the glass with water.

3 – Drink the mixture.

That’s one way to deal with it!

Do this twice each day for a week or so and see if you notice a shift, or a reduction in your symptoms. Also take a flat table spoon of honey each day. Alex’s symptoms virtually disappeared after 2 days, and he’s continuing the treatment in order to keep the symptoms at bay. I’ve read articles and posts suggesting up to two table spoons can be consumed with each dose but to me that sounds a little over the top. ACV is mostly made up of acetic acid which is quite caustic and can even cause light burning when left on a concentrated area of skin for an extended period of time. There are even stories of ACV supplement tablets being lodged in peoples esophagus and causing damage through burning! So do be careful with dosage, don’t overdo the amount of ACV you use, always drink plenty of water with it, and be very careful with ACV supplements. Supplements are not regulated in the same way that other drugs or medicines are so you really don’t know what you’re getting. Stick to the liquid ACV you can find in any super market. Finally I should warn that ACV can be corrosive against tooth enamel, so after your treatment it’s a good idea to rinse your mouth out with water or brush your teeth.

Other Benefits of ACV

In my research on the subject of ACV as a hay fever treatment I came across a number of other purported uses. Some of these included helping with:

* Acne - I know I said earlier that contact with the skin can be dangerous, however pouring a little ACV onto a cotton ball and dabbing it over the acne can reduce it’s appearance and aid in healing the blemishes. After a period of 15 or so minutes you should splash your face with water.

* Cleaning Pores - ACV is said to be able to clean out pores and break down any sebum and other dirt and oils that may be blocking them. Use the same technique as described for acne on the areas you wish to treat.

* Acid Reflux/Heartburn - Acid reflux is not caused by too much acid in the stomach, but rather by not enough. The acetic acid in ACV can help to balance and calm the stomach problems when it is taken the same way it is for hay fever; 2 tea spoons diluted in a glass of water 2 to 3 times per day.

* Strep/Sore Throat - I’ve read a number of articles and anecdotal accounts of individuals who’ve alleviated their painful and irritated sore throats using ACV in the same way it is used to manage hay fever!

I’ve yet to try the ACV remedies myself; I don’t have anything to try it on yet! But I was astounded by my brother’s recovery which corroborated the numerous stories I’d read online. Next time hay fever or a sore throat hit I’ll be sure to give it a try! I almost can’t wait
:)

So if you’ve exhausted every product and treatment on the market why not give the apple cider vinegar treatment a go? Just be sure to start slow; for example one tea spoon of ACV in half a glass of water once per day for a couple of days and build up from there. And although there shouldn’t be any, obviously if you notice any adverse side effects stop the treatment immediately and contact a health professional. As with anything in life take a patient, balanced approach and always use common sense

:)

Have you suffered from hay fever? What worked best for you?

Thanks for reading, all the best
