How to Be Stylishly Patriotic…Without Looking Like a Human American Flag

How to be Stylishly Patriotic…Without Looking Like a Human American FlagFourth of July is upon us.  I like the 4th of July.  Aside from what it represents to this country, I like the word freedom.  In fact, freedom may just be my most cherished word because of what it allows me (which I often take for granted) along with all citizens of this great country.   In celebration of this holiday, I wanted to share some patriotic looks that can help you celebrate the 4th of July with style.

One thing I can stand is obvious looks that represent a holiday.  I’m not one for holiday themed sweaters and I would never splash an American flag print across my body to celebrate the 4th.  How boring and uncreative!  If you’re like me and want to embrace the whole classic red, white and blue in a more creative way, take a look at some of these outfits I put together for a little holiday inspiration.

The 4th of July is a great opportunity to break out those colored jeans you bought.  This look is more nautical than it is 4th of July yet is a great way to celebrate our country’s freedom with style.

A red summer dress can be made to look patriotic with some small blue and white accents.

A pair of white Bermuda sorts is so summery and perfect for the 4th of July.  With some red and blue styled in, it’s patriotic and BBQ perfect.  You don’t have to stick solely to the red, white and blue color palette either.  Note the clutch that has a touch of mint.  Adding a 4th color in a small dose makes the look more interesting and even less obvious.

For a dressier 4th look, I love this skirt that is punched up with some red to give it just a touch of patriotic flavor.

Now, don’t forget, 4th of July celebrations and stains like red wine, ketchup, grass stains and more often go hand-in-hand.  Before you head out to your BBQ or fireworks display, be sure to listen to last Friday’s radio show on how to get rid of the peskiest of summer stains.
