How Running Can Transform Your Day with the Mizuno Wave Rider 18

By Fitfulfocus @fitfulfocus

What is a gal’s best friend? Diamonds? Psh. No, silly – shoes! Though, I wouldn’t turn down diamonds if offered (hint, hint, wink, wink).

I’ve mentioned that I’m a firm believer in the wise old adage “a gal can never have too many shoes,” and a fit gal can never have too many pairs of running shoes! So when I was offered to try a pair of the new Mizuno Wave Runner 18s, I replied with a resounding, “Uh… YES!”

Oooo. aaaaa. So much better than diamonds, don’t you think? I love the color combo! The black is super sleek and the pop of turquoise is gorgeous. They also come in White/Fuchsia and Lighter Blue/Silver color schemes.

I do get a little nervous with new running shoes because I have picky feet. Seriously, I feel like Goldilocks when I’m trying on running shoes. I need a neutral shoe with a wide enough toe box so that my little pinky doesn’t get blisters. I also prefer light shoes (they make me feel faster – zoooommm!!!) and a pair that has enough cushioning to be comfortable but not so much that I feel like I’m running on a bouncy castle.

I’ve been running in the Adidas Energy Boosts and love them, but these Mizuno’s might give them a run for their money. They are everything I’m looking for in a neutral shoe: wide enough in the toe box, light, just the right amount of cushion. Apparently, this is from Mizuno’s patented Wave Technology, which delivers maximum responsiveness and a harmonious feel, providing that Goldilocks’ approved “just right” support for your run.

Another thing I really love about these shoes is the thought behind them. The design was inspired by the Japanese concept of “Hado,” the intrinsic vibrational life force energy that promotes powerful transformations. The shoes are meant to relay the power and kinetic energy of running, harnessing the transformative possibilities of every run.

That sounds a little out there, I know. Whether these shoes have transformational powers or not, I do not know, but I do believe that running has transformational powers. Think about it. You’re in a bad mood. You go for a run. Take all that negative energy out on the road and come back feeling better.

You wake up early. Go for a run. You’ve upped your endorphins and have the energy to take on the rest of the day.

One simple mile really can transform your day, so kudos to Mizuno for trying to harness that energy. Hado all the way (<— can that be a new hashtag #HadoAllTheWay or #HadoAllDay or #HelloHado! – what do you think? Let’s transform social media with these hashtags!).
