Hot Diggity Grill – Hot Diggity Grill: What Better to Pair with Beer Than Bacon Wrapped Deep Fried Hotdogs?

By Bolanrox

And now for something (sort of) completely different:

I am not sure how long they have been opened, fairly sure it is less than a year still.  I first noticed them a few months back when I happened to park across the street from them.  A little retroish malt shop looking place, so it caught my eye fairly quickly.

Located right on Diamond Bridge in Hawthorne (directly across the street from #NJCB member Diamond Liquors / Pub and before the train tracks) Hot Diggity Grill is as easy as any place to get too.  No issues with Parking and no meters, go Hawthorne! So if you want to pair your take out with a beer, you have that easily at your finger tips.

Having eaten there multiple times since and tried a little of everything from the regular menu and specials,  I am definitely a fan.  the stars of the show are the Hot Dog concoctions they have come up with,  BLT dogs, BBQ dogs, Mongolian BBQ dogs,  bacon wrapped, etc.  All deep-fried and all of the special dogs are served up a great club roll.

The burgers / chicken sandwiches were fantastic as well, if not slightly messier, but in that oh so good of a messy way

You want fries or tots?  they have you covered in the traditional cheese and gravy, or homemade chili, and what would a malt shop be with out shakes? The homemade soups were great too.

And if all of this fried goodness was not enough, they also make up their own hot sauces,  recent whipped up ones were Ghost Pepper(great balance of heat and sweet, not vinegary at all, my favorite),  Scorpion (too vinegary for me but still great) and Reaper (not as hot as the first two call this the entry-level one maybe?) Sundays are hot wings day, if that is your thing.

Don’t like the homemade options?  Never Fear, there is a counter top of commercial ones for you to choose from.

There are only a few tables plus the counter space to eat, but takeout has never been an issue,  you can call it in ahead or use the new online ordering from their website. I have used it and everything went smoothly.  They even cater!
