Today I wanted to share with you a great site I’ve just discovered, which could save you a fair bit of money on your honeymoon (or on any trip, for that matter). Secret Escapes runs “flash sales” offering discounted rooms – the cheapest you’ll find at that time on the internet – at luxury hotels around the world. The sales are limited to specific periods, and of course there’s no guarantee that the hotel or destination you’re after will be featured, but often prices will include special extras – dinner or a spa treatment for example – which means you’re definitely getting more for less money, and the site also includes some holidays as well, where the price you see includes flights as well as accommodation. You do need to sign up to see the prices, but they don’t bombard you with emails (phew!) and it does mean that you’re in a good position to be able to jump on any deals straight away.
For example, at the moment you can stay at the lovely Artemis Suites in Santorini for £86 a night in September (even lower if you go later in the year), compared to the hotel’s normal rate of £224 a night on their website – that’s a pretty impressive saving of £138 a night, and you get a stunning view of the famous caldera.
Or, how about a stay at the incredibly luxurious Pangkor Laut Resort, set on a private island in Malaysia? Secret Escapes are currently offering eight nights there in a garden villa, including half board and flights on Malaysia airlines, from just £1599 per person (so £3198 per couple) – the deal is available for holidays from August to early December.
They even offer deals on cruises – including, at the moment, a rather fabulous deal for a holiday on the Queen Mary 2 to New York (including all meals), then on to Niagara Falls, plus a flight home, for £1499 per person (£2998 per couple).
