We were out for my awesome niece's 17th birthday last night, so between that, Daylight Savings Time and a substitute Pilates instructor I was EXHAUSTED last night and only made it through Homeland so I have a lot to catch up on tonight.
Homeland
Yeahhhhhh Dana's gone! She's now Dana Lazaro and is off living with a friend because she just "can't live this life anymore". Sad for Jess, but thrilled for all of us! Good move writers! Carrie hooked up with Juvadi and then Juvadi hooked her up to a lie detector. Was Carrie wearing a bra at all in last nights episode? I don't think so otherwise the set was REALLY cold or something. Anyway forget all that...Carrie's pregnant? REALLY? Well, we all know she is, she took like 30 pregnancy tests and those things aren't cheap, their like 20 bucks each. I'm assuming it was that one night stand guy but could it be Brody's? Don't think that's even a remote possibility timing wise, but who knows? I know that spies can have kids, they do on The Americans, but Carrie's bipolar and always on the run and how would she explain all those photos and articles all over her house when she's on a bender? Not a good idea at all. Wait til Saul finds out, he is going to freak! First his wife, than the CIA gig, then the Juvadi massacre and now this? If he wasn't over the edge already (and I think he was) he will be now. Can't believe Carrie and Quinn left that baby screaming alone in a pack-n-play, but if they weren't supposed to be there at all, it makes sense, OMG that was a crazy scene. Well...at least the show is getting good again even though there's been hardly any Brody.

Strike Back
I guess I should have done my homework before jumping on the Strike Back bandwagon. I TiVOed what I thought were the first 2 episodes of the series only to learn that what Cinemax is currently running is Strike Back: Origins. In Britain, these were the first 6 episodes that ran prior to the show being picked up here in the U.S. with new leads and a different spin. I watched the first 2 eps of Origins and was instantly addicted. Homeland Shmomeland. Even my husband sat down and got into it with me, but then I went to my Cinemax 2 Go app and started Season 1 and found out what happened to the lead of Origins, John Porter. Either way...I'm in. I'm now on episode 6 and the shows great. It's REALLY violent, there's a ton of nudity, some unrealistic situations and great chemistry between the two leads. Michael and Damien look familiar but when I checked them out on IMDB, I confirmed that I've never actually seen them in anything before. These guys are partners in a covert British Intelligence operation known as Section 20.  Mike's the more intense of the two. Damien's intense but he has a humorous side and a love for the "F" word. He uses "F*ck Me, F*ck You, or just plain F*ck in almost every sentence, but he says it with humor, so you don't really mind it. The head of Section 20 reminds me of a young M/Judy Dench from the the James Bond movies. There are 30 total episodes and I've got 24 to go. I'll be all set for the 4th and final season when it returns. Thanks to all of you for recommending the show. I love it!
Parenthood
It makes me SO angry that Parenthood is up against Scandal on Thursday nights. I feel guilty choosing Scandal each week, but Scandal is an adrenaline rush. It's a crazy roller coaster ride that leaves you unable to breathe for an hour straight and right now, it's the best show on television. Parenthood is completely different. Parenthood is all about real life moments. You have the bigger moments like births, deaths and weddings, but you also have smaller ones too. Thursday's episode captured lots of those little ones like Crosby fighting and then embracing the minivan. It captured Christina fighting Bob Little, her mayoral opponent, and then winning over an auditorium of Berkley citizens. We heard Sarah and Amber's side of the same issue and understood clearly where both of them were coming from. We saw the trouble continue to bubble up between Joel and Julia and I don't know about you, but the Zeke/Camille thing has me in knots. All of these moments, the big ones, the little ones, they all could be happening to me, to my friends, to my family. They're real and they hit home. You see yourself, you're kids, your parents. Sometimes its tough to watch, but most of the time its pure joy.
The Vampire Diaries
I've now watched Thursday's episode of The Vampire Diaries twice and I'm STILL sort of confused. Can anyone ever just die? Nobody dies ever! Most of the characters are barely killable (Not a word according to spellcheck but I don't care).  It's really hard to kill someone without a witches spell, a special stick from a special tree, or someone else's life being put on the line. Bonnie's dead, but we see he,r and Jeremy sees her, and Damon's trying to bring her back, but that would mean swapping her out with Silas which is crazy confusing because Silas looks like Stefan. I finally got used to keeping Elena and Katherine straight but keeping Silas and Stefan straight isn't as easy. Ya gotta figure that the primary demo for this show is younger girls, I can't imagine they're able to follow it all. Is it me?
NEWS & INFORMATION

-Friday night, I got the good news and the bad news.  First the good news, The Goldbergs (and Trophy Wife) were both given full season orders by ABC.  I just want to go on record and say that I chose The Goldbergs as my pick for this Fall. It's not the breakout hit it should be, it's not Modern Family, but I love it and it does deserve a full season so I'm glad its getting one. Now the bad news. Back in the Game, the James Caan show isn't being renewed and isn't getting an order for anymore eps. Sort of bummed, I liked this one too, but I'm not going to lose sleep over it. I'll enjoy the remaining episodes and figure out what to replace it with really fast. Super Fun Night got the go ahead for just 3 more episodes. Honestly, I'm super surprised, I thought it would be cancelled by now. Anyone like it?
I'm sure you guys have been told one of those urban legends about the guy who went to a hotel room with a woman thinking he was going to get lucky but ended up being drugged and waking up the next day with a kidney missing right? I've heard some form of that story a few times over the years. Tonight on HBO, there is a documentary that I'm going to TiVO. It's called Tales from the Organ Trade and it's all about organ sales, the underground world of the organ trade and more. Here's the trailer: http://talesfromtheorgantrade.bltoutreach.com/

-Set your DVR's for The Talk tomorrow, The Love Boat cast will reunite on the show!  All of them...Captain Stubing, Gopher, Isaac, Julie McCoy your cruise director, and Julie.  They are even going to have Jack Jones  there to sing the Love Boat theme song. OMG I wish I was at that taping! I used to LIVE for The Love Boat!
-The Client List was cancelled after only 2 seasons, I'm betting it's because the show is a tease. I mean it's on LIfetime for god sakes so how juicy could it really be? If you took Jennifer Love Hewitt, made her "get real and get naked" and threw the show on Showtime then this thing could've been a hit, but you can't have a show about prostitutes and wimp out. Audiences won't and obviously didn't stand for it.
-My husband is going to be totally psyched about this one...FXX used the Xtra bucks and locked up a deal with Sacha Baron Cohen for all of Da Ali G Shows. The shows will start airing in February and will include content never before seen plus some commentary from from Sacha himself.
-What's up with Donald Trump these days? Not able to get big time talent for pageant duty? I mean sure Steven Tyler's big, but it's also kinda creepy at this point to have him judging young girls in swimsuits don't you think? Also sharing the Miss Universe panel with him is Chef Nobu, Tara Lipinsky the figure skater, Carol Alt (she makes sense) Anne V (she makes sense) Faouk Shami a hair cair guy who I never heard of, Italo Fontana, who I also never heard of and Philip Kirkorov some Russian pop star. Yeah...I'll miss this one.
-Not sure how many of you guys are into the ratings info I include in this blog. As a former media buyer regardless of how I feel about Nielsen and all of its methodology mumbo jumbo it is what it is and I've always enjoyed keeping track of the top (and bottom) rated shows.  In this weeks Ad Week there was a very interesting article about the 10pm time period. ABC, NBC and CBS are seeing historically low live ratings at 10pm. Across the board it's about 5% lower YOY.  Once you factor in Live+7 results, delivery increases significantly but you know what that means...nobody's watching the commercials. C3 numbers show only slight increases.  The 10pm time period's average age has increased to 56.4 which is out of the 18-49 and 25-54 guarantee demo windows. I actually agree with the erosion of the time period theory...we all use 10pm to catch up on other stuff.  A TV buyer in the article called the time period the DVR Channel because it's now the number one network at 10pm. My feeling is that if there was strong programming at 10pm we'd watch it live. I mean we watch it on cable right? Sons of Anarchy is on at 10, American Horror Story is on at 10 and they deliver stronger numbers than their broadcast competition...if you build it...we will come!
