Dexter-Showtime 51,387 Newsroom 2.2 million people watched the season premiere of Newsroom on HBO Sunday night. I wonder how many people had to watch it more than once like I did?  Game of Thrones is tough for me, but I find it Newsroom even harder, probably because I'm not much of a news junkie. I'm the opposite actually. So...I was happy to have Aaron Sorkin's amazing words back in my brain again regardless of how hard they are to process. I can't believe how great Will McAvoy is and how incredible Jeff Daniels is at bringing him to life. I was thrilled with the two songs played during the episode (name them for 2 points each). I loved that the second I saw MJ's hair and wondered what the heck she did to it, Marcia Gay Harden asked the same question at exactly the same time. I loved seeing Matthew from The New Adventures from Old Christine, I'm relieved  MJ and Don broke up and hoping Jim doesn't meet the love of his life on the Mitt Romney bus. I loved the name Jerry Dantanna (anyone get the reference? 5 points if you do!).  What I didn't love was that all of the stories that we were seeing unfold took place 14 months ago which is sort of stupid in my mind. (No disrespect Mr. Sorkin). News is about NOW. News is THE MOMENT. Old news is old news and most of it, nobody cares about the second it's old news. Occupy Wall Street, hate to say it, but I had already forgotten about it. This isn't going to deter me from tuning in at all, and I hate criticising this show, but that's what came to mind right away.  We're going to talk about the past on a show about news?
Home Run Derby
I love the Home Run Derby. I actually enjoy it more than the All Star Game. It's so much fun to watch and Chris Berman is hilarious to listen to during the game. He gets so excited for every home run, it's like it's the first one he's ever seen in his life. I love that guy.
The fans seemed to be having a great time, but how sad was it that all the seats behind home plate were empty. What's up with that? A NY, Citifield All Star Game had empty seats? I find that unbelievable.  There has to be a oneupper out there who would have paid anything or known someone just to be there. Or, ESPN should have thrown someone in there just for looks, no? They have seat fillers at all the award shows guys...just sayin.   Anyway, some amazing hitting last night. My favorite was Oakland A's hitter, Yoenes Cespedes. He hit 17 home runs in the first round. 12 of them were over 400 feet. He hit another 6 homers in round 2 and went up against Bryce Harper in the finals and then took the title with 9 more.  It was great to see all of the other players actually having fun. Especially Big Papi with his Ipad and his GoPro. People forget that baseball can be fun. How cool was that spray chart graphic?  I love a good graphic. Did they have that last year? I don't remember. David Wright had to feel good playing on his home turf. The fans were loving him even though he didn't advance to round 2. I can't say anything, my guy Robinson Cano didn't either. During the finals, did you catch the 3 minute Chevy commercial? Awesome placement, awesome spot. In case you missed it, here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=asLiTaweuIM

Get Out Alive

Bear Grylls is a cocky guy. He thinks he's got BG style, and so should everyone else including the tortured contestants of this grueling reality torture show. So in addition to making them hike, eat worms, compete to make a sling shot and shoot down a cow skull for food, you must wear BG garb too.  I do like the guy though, which surprises me. I don't think any  Get Out Alive teams actually have any outdoor experience or skills.  This weeks challenges were just insane.  They're just regular people and they are out on these massive mountains on cliffs that looked like where Bobby and Cindy Brady met Jimmy the Indian boy during the Grand Canyon episode. The scenery from the tops of the mountains was majestic and gorgeous on television, I can only imagine what they were like in real life. Last week Bear gave the teams fish eyeballs to eat, this week it was the worms needed for protein. Esmerelda was a problem 8 minutes into the hiking challenge. She's a whiner, a complainer and she was truly the weakest link in the chain, which lead to her and her dude getting the ax.  I didn't love Esmerelda and was happy to see her go. This shows tough. I'm amazed that these people are actually not dead yet. I would be.

Under the Dome

Well, we definitely didn't learn anything about the dome again this week which pisses me off a bit. Of course the dome is having crazy affects on the people inside it. This week everyone got meningitis or at least that's what the one doctor inside the dome thinks it was. Linda the police chief got it and so did Julia, but of course there was just enough antibiotics left to cure everyone and send them on their way by the end of the episode. Big Jim and Barbie had to go get more drugs from the reverend who had stolen them from the drug store so he left his nut job son with a rifle and in charge at the hospital.  Junior did a good job...so good that the second Linda got better, she made Junior a deputy. Oy vey Linda, bad idea. Angie was still stuck in the bunker and was freaking out so much that she pulled a pipe out of the wall and burst the water pipe. Just as she was about to give up and accept dying in freezing water in an underground bunker, she gave screaming for help one last try and of course Big Jim heard her, found her and then stared at her while credits rolled. He better not leave her in there, but that is the feeling I got.  The smart kid and his new girlfriend used a smartphone to video themselves having a seizure and spewing that whole "pink stars are falling" bit so now we just have to hope that the genius figures out what it all means. Was this episode good? Yeah, I guess so. The pattern of every other episode being okay still stands, but still no answers about the dome itself. With the army leaving town, I'm beginning to lose hope we will ever know the deal.  I didn't read the book, so no idea what to expect. All I know is, it's frustrating TV to say the least.

Below Deck

Below Deck is this Summer's guilty pleasure for me. I love it.  This week the crew welcomed 5 single guys who on paper sounded like they were crazy party animals. They obviously couldn't really afford their 3 day trip since they only gave the crew a 9% tip after the bent over backwards to make their stay on the boat and off amazing. What jerks.  It was really a bummer for Eddie (my fave) who did everything for those guys including find them girls.  Not cool at all. I hope they felt bad after watching the show and mailed the crew some dough. The guys drank a lot and did use the "hey baby wanna come back to our yacht" line with a couple of girls, but one of the girls was definitely a guy and the other seemed more into her than John, the guy who brought her home. Still, good TV, gotta say.  But honestly, it's much more about the crew at this point than the guests. Dave is adorable. He's a gay ex-marine, who dabbled in gay porn and is now an engaged, crew member of the Honor.  Every scene with Adrienne is so awkward, annoying and uncomfortable, but we need her so we can hate her.  I actually felt bad for her for a while and now, I'm on board with the rest of the crew and hate her also. CJ and Sam are officially way more than bunkmates now and it looks like Kat may get fired for drinking way too much every time she has the opportunity.  If you guys aren't watching this one this Summer, you should. It's just mindless fun.
News & Information:

-For anyone who missed Sharknado last Thursday, didn't TiVO it or anything, good news...Syfy is going to rerun it on July 18th, that's this Thursday at 7pm. So either tune in or set your DVR for it this time. Trust me, you won't be sorry and then tell me if it you thought it was SO bad and  SO good all at the same time.

-I'm not the hugest fan of The View. When I'm home and it's on, I may check it out. They've never had 4 hosts I liked all at the same time.  With yesterday's announcement that Jenny McCarthy would be a new yenta sitting around the table, I can guarantee you I will never tune in again. I can't stand Jenny McCarthy. She is one of the most annoying people on the planet. She ruined New Years Rockin Eve for me, and now she's going to annoy everyone at The View and ruin it for it's remaining fans. Bad choice in my opinion guys.

-True Blood fans, not sure how this season is going for you all, but I guess HBO is happy since they've already given the official word that there will be a season 7. It's weird, I don't ever hear anyone talk about True Blood anymore. Remember when it was the rave and everyone talked about that show? I watched for I think the first 2 or 3 seasons and then it just got too weird for me and I gave it up.  For those of you still watching, is it still good? Just curious.

-While True Blood got good news yesterday, the cast of The Lying Game on ABC Family didn't fare as well. The Lying Game will not be renewed for a third season. I'm serious...this isn't a lie, totally telling the truth here. It's NOT coming back.

-Scandal's soooo hot that ABC and BET just cut an early syndication deal for the show.  I don't really remember this happening before, especially with so few episodes produced to date, but BET will start running Seasons 1 & 2 of Scandal this August.  I bet I tune in, I'd love to re-watch um all. I was SO obsessed when I caught up on season 1. It's a good idea actually. With the show still early in its early lifespan it can add to its fan base as people check it out on BET.

-There hasn't been anything super juicy from my FBFF, Jimmy Fallon lately. I think he's saving all the best stuff for February and 1130pm. To celebrate tonight's All Star Game, Jimmy posted this video of Matt Harvey interviewing Mets fans about Matt Harvey. It's hilarious. Check it out: http://mashable.com/2013/07/15/matt-harvey-interviews-fans/
Tuesday's Trivia Question: Jimmy Kimmel got married this past weekend in Ojai California. I thought of 2 TV shows that had an Ojai California connection. 5 points for each one you can name.  If there's more, go for it.  WWTM-Kristy Like me on Facebook at Watching Way Too Much Follow me on Twitter at watchingwaytoomuch@tvnme http://watchingwaytoomuch.com [email protected]
