Holiday Gifts for the Avid Traveler and Health Nut

By Healthytravelblog @healthytravel1

Holiday Gift GuideSometimes, your loved ones can be the hardest to shop for during the holidays. You know them inside and out, which should make things easier, but you want the gift you give them to be exactly what they want and need and perhaps something they wouldn’t treat themselves to.

If this loved one also happens to be an avid traveler, you can play off of their hobbies and passions to find innovative and special gifts for them they can use far beyond the holidays during their travels.

Here are some ideas you can add to your shopping list.

Packable sun hats
When your loved one is traveling somewhere tropical, they need to pack a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen to protect their eyes and skin from the sun. Coolibar has packable hats that do it all – hats for men and women that provide a wide brim to protect their face and also provide them with ultraviolet sun protection factor of 50+. Plus, they’re stylish and are designed to be rolled, crushed and packed tightly in a suitcase. The SmartStraw Packable Fedora Hat for men and the SmartStraw Packable Tropicana Sun Hat for women are both great choices.

First-Aid kit
Ok, it’s not that flashy, high-tech or trendy, but it’s something every adventurous traveler can use. The REI Backpacker Extended First-Aid Kit is stocked with everything they may need, from simple bandages to splints, medications and a wilderness first-aid manual. Plus, it includes a smaller removable kit that can be used on day hikes.

Smartphone accessories
While traveling, we often rely on our smartphones to help us figure out how to find our way, keep in touch with loved ones back home, capture photos for memories, and even to store important documents, such as e-boarding passes, medical records, and more. Unfortunately, dropping a phone or getting it wet can happen during travels, but you can help your loved one protect their phone at home and abroad with a Lifeproof phone case. These phone cases make the phone nearly indestructible – with the case, the phone is waterproof up to 6.6 feet for one hour, it’s sealed off from dirt and dust, it’s closed off to snow and ice, and it can survive a drop from 6.6 feet.

If your traveling loved one likes to cycle or tour their destinations on a bike, you could get them the StormCruiser bike mount for smart phones. This bike mount allows them to mount their iPhone or other smartphone to their bike handlebars to make it easier to use their phone’s GPS to navigate their location. Plus, weather won’t be an issue– the bike mount protects your phone from water, dirt, oil and other liquids. The StormCruiser bike mount can also be used on motorcycles, ATVs, and golf carts.

GoPro camera
If your loved one is an adventure traveler, a GoPro camera can help them capture all of the excitement. It will allow them to take still photos, burst photos, videos and even time lapse photos and videos. The cameras are waterproof and can withstand rugged conditions and terrain. There are also all kinds of accessories you can get to accompany a GoPro camera, such as mounts for bikes, surfboards and even dogs, as well as helmet straps and a GoPro pole (think selfie stick).

Filtered water bottle
When destinations don’t have the same water sanitization regulations, drinking the water can make you incredibly ill. Carrying a self-filtering water bottle means your loved one won’t have to worry about drinking the local water or buying bottled water in order to stay hydrated while they’re traveling. The KOR Nava filter water bottle is BPA free and made with coconut – the filter is made from pure coconut shells, which minimizes the production of the bottle’s impact on the environment. Its other features include easy flow, a “no worry” cap you can’t lose, and a hygienic spout.
