£25,000 of Support for Glasgow Children's Charities

Hilton Glasgow is celebrating their 25th with a special £25,000 gift from their own 25th Birthday Foundation Ball in aid of disadvantaged young people. Their annual Foundation Ball will be held on 16th September and they will be donating £25,000 to children's charities across the city and surrounding area.

Working in partnership with DM Thomas Foundation for Young People the iconic Glasgow hotel already has already agreed on donations to NSPCC Scotland and Action For Children Scotland. They now want to reach out to other charities and groups who may need funds to support their invaluable work.

The campaign, supported First Contact one of the UK's leading call centres, brought together the partners and children James and Hollie to ask charities to apply for funds ranging from £250 to £2,500.

Calum Ross, General Manager of Hilton Glasgow said: "People are at the heart of this hotel, that is what makes me so proud to work here. Over the last 25 years, they have raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for charities and this year they have surpassed themselves. We urge any charity who supports young people between the ages of 5 and 25 to apply before the 21st July."

DM Thomas Foundation for Young People Foundation and Hilton Glasgow have been working together since 2000 to help the young people of Glasgow and Scotland. Throughout their 16 year partnership, they have allocated grants to many local children's charities, totalling over £290K.

Simon Sheehan, Director of the DM Thomas Foundation for Young People, said: "We are incredibly proud to be able to partner with Hilton Glasgow once again during this very special year for them. By working with the hotel's team members, who all volunteer their time so generously, we are able to harness this charitable spirit to help organisations, clubs and charities across Glasgow and the UK to deliver projects with young people that improve their education and care."

All applications meeting the criteria outlined in the application pack will be judged by a panel including Calum Ross, Simon Sheehan and Neil Wilson, MD of First Contact.

Quote from Steve McManus, Senior Fundraiser for Action for Children Scotland
"We are thrilled to be involved with the Hilton Foundation and to be one of the beneficiaries of this year's ball. Across Scotland, we deliver 87 innovative services, from the Western Isles to the Borders, and the money from this donation will make a huge difference to the thousands of children, families and young people we support each and every year."

Quote from NSPCC Scotland - Sara Ling, Senior Fundraising Manager, NSPCC Scotland
"NSPCC Scotland community fundraising manager Sara Ling said: "We are delighted to be involved with the Hilton Foundation Ball this year. All funds raised for NSPCC Scotland from this event will allow us to fund our vital services in Scotland such as Childline, our direct work supporting families and our School Service which aim to visit every single primary school to teach children how to stay safe from abuse."
