Hillary Supports Marriage Equality

Posted on the 19 March 2013 by Jobsanger
Hillary Supports Marriage Equality Hillary Clinton has been a supporter of equal rights for a long time now -- including equal rights for the LGBT community. But in the past, she has stopped short of actually endorsing same-sex marriage (although the implication that she supported it was there). Well, there is no longer any doubt on the matter at all. In a new video for the Human Rights Campaign, she now makes it very clear that she supports the right of members of the LGBT community to marry the person they love. Here is some of what she had to say:
LGBT Americans are our colleagues, our teachers, our soldiers, our friends, our loved ones, and they are full and equal citizens and deserve the rights of citizenship. That includes marriage. That’s why I support marriage for lesbian and gay couples. I support it personally and as a matter of policy and law, embedded in a broader effort to advance equality and opportunity for LGBT Americans and all Americans
If you would like to see the video, you can go to Think Progress. It looks like she has realized that supporting marriage equality is no longer a political liability (except among fundamentalists or teabaggers -- groups that would never support her in a campaign for president anyway).
