Although Steve Jobs’ successor as Apple CEO, Tim Cook, few months ago said that the company would tighten up security to avoid the rumours and leaks about upcoming Apple products, last night there was almost nothing new when Tim Cook went on stage in the big auditorium, the so-called Town Hall, in Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino to present this year’s iPhone models. Almost everything was revealed to us in advance, thanks to number of rumours recently. We knew, among other things, that the new iPhone 5S would get fingerprint scanner, and that budget model iPhone 5C will come in different colours. Nevertheless, everyone was obviously excited when the curtain was lifted last night and Tim Cook began his presentation.
iPhone 5C
The first of Apple’s new iPhone models, named (not surprisingly) iPhone 5C was introduced by Phil Schiller. It comes as expected to replace the existing iPhone 5, which therefore will not be available in stores any more. iPhone 5C comes in five colours – green, yellow, blue, white and pink – and is made of a single piece of hardened polycarbonate. The entire front is made up of a 4″ multi-touch retina display. It will have the same Apple A6 processor as the current iPhone 5, and comes with 8 MP camera called iSight and a front camera of 1.9 MP. It also features 4G/LTE as well as Bluetooth 4.0 and 802.11 a / b / g / n.

Thus, we move on to the top model, the iPhone 5S, which as expected comes in three colours: black, silver and a champagne-like gold color. And we knew that in advance.
The new iPhone 5S features Apple’s new A7 processor under the hood and it comes with 64-bit processor, which is going to do wonders for performance and speed. To illustrate what this means, iPhone 5S will be 40 times faster than the original iPhone, and its fast performance should also apply to the graphics, which even becomes 56 times faster compared to the original iPhone.
In addition, the iPhone 5S gets an additional processor called M7, which should keep the phone’s movements – including data from accelerometer, gyroscope and compass. This will make possible creating a whole new generation of health and fitness apps, says Apple. The iPhone 5s has a dual LED flash, a fingerprint scanner (Touch ID) and a 64-bit A7 chip. As far as we know, the iPhone 5S is thus the first smartphone on the market with 64-bit processor along with Touch ID finger scanner.
New camera
Also, the camera has been overhauled and now comes with f/2.2 aperture, and a new type of flash which Apple calls True Tone – actually there are two camera flashes, one with cool white light and one with a warmer color temperature – which are then used to create better white balance, especially indoors.
The camera will have a number of additional new features. For example, the camera app allows users to take control over the exposure and white balance; the camera also has several autofocus sensors and it gets metering in 15 zones. It’s going to be able to shoot series of pictures up to 10 frames / second. Video clips can be recorded in full 1080p quality, but also in 720p, which in turn can record with 120 fps, allowing cool slow-motion footage.
Fingerprint Scanner
Also previously guessed, the iPhone 5S comes with a brand new safety technology – namely, a fingerprint scanner built into the home button. Apple calls this technology TouchID, and sensor can scan several skin layers at a resolution of 500 ppi. TouchID is built into iOS 7 and – in addition to protecting your phone – can also be used, for example, to make purchases in iTunes and the App Store.

Apple’s new mobile operating system, iOS 7, comes with a brand new design and lots of new features, offering a whole new experience. It was first presented three months ago in connection with the WWDC 2013 in San Francisco. iOS 7, among other things, offers iTunes Radio and improvement of the intelligent voice control tool Siri. A menu that allows users to quickly access options such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth is also added.
iOS 7 will not only be supported by the new iPhone models, but can also be downloaded and installed by users of the iPhone 4 / 4S / 5; iPad 2 / 3 / 4 / mini and iPod touch 5G, and it will be available from September 18.
