This is the moment a stunt driver put millions of motorists to shame by seamlessly sliding a classic Mini into a gap just over a foot longer than the car - in REVERSE.

Alastair Moffatt beat the previous record at the Brooklands Museum, Surrey, yesterday (Thurs) for the tightest parallel parking in reverse the narrow margin of just one centimetre - after banging the car into the space at a whopping 40mph.

Brave Alastair made an incredible J-turn, then handbrake turn to slot perfectly into the parking space - 34cm longer than the classic Mini.

Chuffed Alastair, a master instructor at Stunt Drive UK in Newent, Gloucs., said: "I am so thrilled that I was able to achieve a Guinness World Records title today - especially on Guinness World Records Day, it doesn't get much better than that.

"A lot of planning, dedication and, of course, parking went it to today's successful record attempt."

Alastair beat another record in January when he got behind the wheel of a Fiat 500 to get in a space just 7.5cm longer than the car.

Guinness World Records Editor-in-Chief Craig Glenday, said: "What Alastair has achieved today encapsulates everything about Guinness World Records Day.

"Our parallel parking records are always hotly contested and his demonstration of skill, precision and dedication to achieve such a difficult record is really inspirational stuff."

He added: "I can barely park in an empty field."
