Hello – Facebook’s New Caller ID App Shows You Who’s Calling

Posted on the 23 April 2015 by Nrjperera @nrjperera

Facebook has launched a new app called “Hello,” an app that works similar to Caller ID and pulls information about the caller from Facebook to show you who’s calling.

I’m not sure if anyone even makes phone calls these days, especially with tons of apps out there that lets you make calls for free, but if you do still get phone calls Facebook’s new app will come in handy when it comes to ignoring phone calls from annoying strangers.

When active, Hello will show you more information about the caller including the name, the profession and or if it’s his birthday, even if you don’t have his/her number saved on your phone. The app also allows you to browse people and business on Facebook to find contact numbers and make calls with just one tap.

“So if a friend tells you about a new restaurant in your neighborhood, you can use Hello to find their hours, make a reservation and get directions, all without leaving the app.”

Only downside to the app is that it will only show you info that people have already shared with you on Facebook. In other words, you won’t see anything about the caller if the phone number is missing from his/her Facebook profile.

Hello is still going through some testing at Facebook Creative Labs, but you can download the app from Google Play. The app won’t be arriving on iOS, given its strict rules regarding apps messing with phone calls. Check out the video to see how it works.
