Heel Therapy: Transition Feet From Summer To Fall

By Girlratesworld @girlratesworld

As we transition from Summer to Fall, our feet are also transitioning from sandals and flip flops to boots (and more boots). After 90 days of cute sandals and fashionable flats your feet – especially your heels – crave some love and affection.

I got this tip from one of my best friends, Marica, who saw this tip on an episode of the Oprah Winfrey Show.

The back story: One year, all of us girlfriends decided to take a trip to “Swamp Nation.” Yup! We went down to New Orleans with nothing but beads and booze on our minds. The 12 of us shared 1 queen sized bed, 1 pull-out bed and 2 bathrooms for 4 days. Needless to say the 2 bathrooms was almost a deal-breaker for 12 glamorous, high-maintenance divas — we had no kids at the time. So one night Marica pulls out from her luggage a bunch of socks, a tub of Vaseline and saran wrap with the promise of the “softest feet ever overnight.” We giggled at the mere vision of the 12 of us stacked up in a tiny timeshare with saran-wrapped feet. But we didn’t hesitate to give it a try because she absolutely swore by the method.

OMG!

It worked!

And I’ve been using this technique ever since that glamorous girlfriend getaway down in the bayou. It’s not something you could tolerate doing every night. But every other month or in between seasons – like the transition from summer to fall – it’s perfect!

Cracked heels can become worse during the summer months because of flip-flops and backless shoes. Heel therapy can be done year round by keeping feet moisturized daily & socks on your feet as much as possible.

It may feel uncomfortable to have both the saran wrap and the socks so you are free to use on or the other. The use of both intensifies the treatment. Your feet has no choice but to soak in the moisture from the Vaseline.

I love this beauty tip because is extremely cheap and it uses things we always have hanging around the house.

Steps to Smoothness:
1. Shower
2. Slather both feet with Vaseline
3. Wrap your feet with saran wrap from the ankle to the toes
4. Put on your favorite pair of comfy socks
5. Sleep

Ladies (and gentlemen) that’s all to it! When you wake the next morning, remove the socks and wrapping to unveil softer, smoother feet. Trust me. They will feel sooooooooo good – you won’t want to walk on them.

What are some of your beauty rituals that you practice from season to season? What is your favorite foot product for keeping them nice and smooth daily. One of my favorites is Heel To Toe Feels Like New Foot Softener.
