I don’t really understand what you mean when you say white Americans look more like blacks than their ancestors. If I see a white from England, they pretty much look like whites from here. Though they tend to be uglier on average in the UK than N. American whites.

I can see what you mean by blacks looking a bit different from Africans due to mixture. I can usually tell a black American and African apart quite easily. I cannot tell a white American and British person apart for the most part. Only difference to me is that Brits tend to have bad teeth and are less facially attractive on average.

Well, a study was done with skulls. They had recent Black and White skulls from the US. And then they had access to a collection dating back to colonial times 250-400 years ago. They measured the skulls using all sorts of measurements, and they concluded that modern Blacks and Whites look more like each other than either one looks like their ancestors.

Blacks looked more like Whites than they looked like their ancestors from 250-400 years ago. Whites actually looked more like modern Blacks than they did their ancestors 250-400 years. Both races have been selecting strongly for progressive features and against archaic features for 250-400 years now and the result is there is starting to be some convergence between Blacks and Whites in the US.

I know intuitively it sounds nuts but this is what they concluded in their study. Most of the heavy selection for progressive phenotypes among Blacks had occurred from the late 1800’s to present, after the First Liberation.

Here is an article I wrote on the subject that you can download that includes references.
