I’m not one who would spend money on paintings. In fact, seldom do I encounter paintings that scream “look at me” much so, “buy me” except for Christian Tamondong’s whimsical pieces and now Love Marie’s works, whose intricate patterns really impressed me.
I follow Heart on Instagram and when she announced that she will be having an exhibit, I got really excited because I was interested in the “Incandescently” piece. (see below) For some reason I was so enthralled with it that I decided I must have it!
The exhibit was a success. In fact, everything got sold out on the second day! Waaah! I wish I had gotten invited because then I would have had the chance to buy the painting! Akin dapat yun eh! :(
Anyway, the exhibit was already on its last week when we checked it out. I’m glad we brought Rafa with us because he really enjoyed looking at each painting!
The Artist: Love Marie Ongpauco or better known as Heart Evangelista - the celebrity.

This is my favorite among all the paintings. I wanted to buy it but all her paintings already sold out within the first day of opening. I still can’t get over it! :(

To Heart, these women are not necessarily self-portraits. “I don’t know, they must be me, but I look at each painting like a friend. I gave one of the early works away and it was so hard.”
