Healing Sounds: A 432hz Fun-Raising Campaign!

The natural universe resonates at a certain frequency which can be measured in Hz. During the middle of the 20th century Dr Otto Schumann studied naturally occurring wavelengths and resonance frequencies and in 1952 (primarily through the study of lightning activity) documented, mathematically, that 8Hz is the global electromagnetic resonance wavelength, in other words: the fundamental “beat” of the planet.

So what does this have anything to so with 432Hz? Well musicians will know that when tuning our instruments our tuners are generally set to 440Hz. This is because in 1953 the International Standards Organisation decided that concert pitch, and subsequently almost all recorded music, is played with a frequency of A=440. When a guitar, for example, is tuned to A=440 the note C will be 261Hz.

But when we double the number 8 five time (in sound/musical terms brining our tone up 5 octaves) we get the number 256. Where C=256Hz, A in that scale will equal 432Hz. So here’s what I’m getting at; when we tune our instruments to 432Hz instead of the usual 440Hz the music we make, the sounds we create, are actually resonating in tune and time with our physical bodies and the natural world around us! 432Hz resonates with 8Hz which is the global resonance wavelength. Thus when we tune our instruments to A=432Hz, we are playing in tune with nature!

There are even entire organisations that are using relaxing music and sounds played in 432Hz to help facilitate meditation, relaxation as well as improve mental and physical health!

Take a look at this picture:

Which one of those do you think looks to be the more coherent and naturally occurring? I’m sure most would agree that the image on the left has an elegance and sense of serenity that the right picture lacks.

“The music industry features this imposed frequency that is ‘herding’ populations into greater aggression, psycho social agitation, and emotional distress predisposing people to physical illness.” - Dr. Leonard Horowitz

You see there is a school of thought out there that believes that listening to lots of music played at 440Hz can actually have a negative effect on us both physically and psychologically. And it kind of makes sense. Remember the water from above? Well us people are primarily made of the stuff and doesn’t it stand to reason that having ourselves resonating in tune with the natural wavelength would make us feel better? Sadly that’s near impossible as every piece of music you’ve ever bought or heard on the radio has been performed and recorded at 440Hz so on a resonant level we look, and feel, more like the image on the right!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA8Hz is even the frequency of the double helix in DNA replication. So when we listen to sounds and music played at 432Hz it is pulsating with our very DNA!

But here’s were things get really weird.

Just about every ancient form of music, be it Amazonian Shamanic healing singing, Tibetan chakra bowls, Native American Flutes or ancient Irish instruments, is played at 432Hz. We know this because instruments such as certain wind instruments, drums and bowls must be crafted to a specific tuning and cannot be changed.

musicRecently I’ve been playing all my music in 432 and there’s just something about it. It seems warmer, less harsh, less chaotic. And people really love it. For me there’s no going back, and here’s where the Fun-Raising Campaign comes in!

In the coming weeks and months myself, my brother Alex and my father David will be touring Europe, starting with my dad in December! Now here’s the thing, tours don’t pay for themselves, not right away at least. The more money we can raise the better equipped we’ll be and the longer we can keep at it.

So here’s the deal…

Today we are releasing two compilation albums, one of mine and one of my dad’s, containing 23 songs each and (wait for it) remastered and pitch shifted to 432Hz! The albums cost 10 Euro each (around 13USD) and every penny will go to support our touring efforts; food, gear, transport, accommodation, promotion and so on!

So not only will every album sold directly help the success of the upcoming tour, but you’ll be healing yourself just by listening to it’s 432Hz harmonizing goodness!

For those who don’t know my dad (pfft, look him up on Wikipedia), David Virgin is a bit of a dude. He was a founding member of the industrial noise group SPK which bands like The Prodigy and The Chemical Brothers cite as major influences, he’s had 5 number 1 singles in the Australian independent charts, he’s shared the stage with the likes of Nick Cave, John Cooper Clark, Cat Power, Billy Bragg, INXS and so on, and most amazingly managed to raise my brothers and I without strangling us! :P

This album represents a collection of David Virgin works spanning over 30 years and is a great listen for anyone who likes their post-punk, indie folk, edgy adult contemporary music. People have compared him to Leonard Cohen, Lloyd Cole, Morrissey etc. Close I guess, but not quite.

My album is called The First Decade and it is just that. I released my first album aged 18 in 2004. 10 years (and ten albums) later I present an eclectic collection of my songs that hopefully just about everyone could find something of interest in!

Now, I’m pretty keen to help spread the word about the (pretty fascinating) 432Hz tuning as well as the Fun-Raising Campaign and so if any of you bloggers would like to have me contribute to your blog on the subject, that would be awesome. Here’s a few ideas to get you started:

* A personal live youtube performance of one of my songs played in 432Hz and a shout-out to your blog!

* An interview on the subjects of healing music and these new albums and campaigns.

* A review of one or both albums.

* A guest post on the subjects of healing music and these new albums and campaigns.

* Get creative! Got a different idea? Let me know!

So there ya have it! Go ahead and check out the albums on Bandcamp here (Three Decades of David Virgin) and here (Rohan: The First Decade), you can stream all the songs in their entirety and if you’d like to get yourself some healing sounds and support the tour go ahead and hit that buy button! And as always sharing is so important :) At the very least give the campaign a Like on Facebook by clicking HERE and share it on if you can. Let’s get back to resonating with nature!

Thanks as always for your awesome support, email me at [email protected] or leave a comment if you are interested in personalised youtubes, guest posts, reviews, interviews and the like!

Thanks for reading, all the best :)

Rohan.

ps. And I’d be interested in speaking directly to anyone who has any experience traveling the South of France. If you have, hit me up ;)
