Healing and Relaxation in Kerala, India Today's post is a guest post by Molly Austin.
India springs up thoughts of busy, bustling cities, loud horns and colorful markets, yet a million miles away from the hustle and bustle is a little known place called Kerala.
Believe me, this is quite the hidden gem.  (Photo "Waterfalls" by itzsibi)
Tucked away in south-west India, this is one hell of a beach holiday. Relaxing and beautiful, this is the kind of place you go to get away from it all.
You can fly to many Indian cities and connect to Kerala. Long-haul flying can be exhausting, but I’ve found ways to make it a little more bearable. Pre-booking airport hotels can help take the tiredness out of flying, getting some precious sleep before boarding. Airport parking is a fantastic add-on, and not only saves money but also adds peace of mind and convenience to travel. Check out Manchester Airport Parking or Bristol Airport Parking for great rates when flying from the UK.  (Photo "Evening" by renjithmc)
Healing and Relaxation in Kerala, IndiaThe relaxation theme continues once you arrive, with stunning beaches to soak up the sun. The backwaters of Kerala are famous and I’d highly recommend you jump on a ferry boat and explore a little. You’ll get a precious glimpse into the real India, something you don’t often get from a holiday destination. I love to feel like I’ve really experienced a destination and learnt about where I’ve been, and this is the perfect opportunity to do just that. Not to be missed!
One of my favorite activities, no matter where I go, is shopping. Yes, I am a shopaholic. Whilst Kerala may not be New York in terms of shopping, it is interesting and eclectic, and a great chance to purchase local souvenirs, not to mention it being cheap. Bonus!
The area is famous for ancient Ayurvedic healing practices and I would highly recommend a treatment, perfect for letting all your cares float away in the breeze. This is where those pennies saved from pre-booking your airport extras will come in handy – go on, treat yourself! Edinburgh Airport Parking means peace of mind and saved money – what could be better?
Now you’re all relaxed and chilled-out, head out in the evening for some delicious Indian food. Indian cuisine is famous the world over, and here it’s always fresh and oh-so-delicious!
Evening entertainment is as low-key and chilled-out as the area itself, and more about having a few drinks and listening to lapping waves with some good company. If you’re after all night raves, this isn’t the place for you, however if escapism and relaxation is the order of the day, then you’re right where you need to be.
For good old, simple get-away-from-it-all fun, Kerala is where it’s at.
