Haze Weather

By Stephanie

Do snails and toads like overcast sky? I spotted a few big snails in a container one day, yikes! And on another occasion, a big black toad in another pot! Eeyeeh... how I dislike them.

The haze has blocked the harsh sunlight for many days. During those days, it was warm and dry. But when it rains, the plants get a good drink.

I am happy to see the Haworthia flowering. The plant used to be so skinny when I took it out from an old terrarium months ago. The leaves have plumped back since with a stalk of flowers emerging from between the leaves.

The flowers are however too small for the eyes to see the details...

My Rose of Sharon (Hibiscus syriacus) bore a flower. This time however the flower faded fast due to a heavy rain that poured in the evening on the same day the flower blossomed.

In the background of the pic below is the bougainvillea shrub. It is flowering also.

My dwarf Azalea is showing off three big blooms. Two just opened and one opened last week...

My little terrarium in the kitchen has a fern growing out from among the mosses that are thriving in the tiny pot now. How cute :-)

Watercress -- can be harvested anytime now, yippie!

Love watching these bright little blooms of Cypress Vine (Ipomoea quamoclit). They are like little light bulbs all over this part of the garden.

So is the Senecio confusus 'Sao Paulo'. The flowers are really bright. Look at this one...

Dwarf Syngonium is not just pretty but very easy to care for. I am glad I am growing one :-)

The red foliage is Alternanthera dentata 'Purple Knight'. The leaves can turn darker with more sunlight. The plant that is on the right is a variegated Gardenia. It has not flowered for months already.
