Have a good weekend

Finally we have reached Friday without losing our sanity. Right? Despite it being a pretty hectic week, I managed to hit up the Banana Republic sale, catch up with a friend, hang with family, try out some recipes and enjoy a BBQ feast courtesy of Hungry Husband. What were the highlights you ask? Oh if you must know, then I'm happy to share...
Have a good weekend

I totally fell in love with my gal pals outfit. She always looks rather stunning but the simplicity of her latest combo had me eyeing a shopping cart. I don't know what it is about a red blazer but it makes my heart skip a beat. She actually had on a way cooler necklace but you get the idea. We ate some rice-less sushi and gabbed about life, love and the pursuit of an immaculate closet.

I tried two very very simple (and healthy) recipes.  I absolutely hate the lunch hour conundrum, "what should I eat today" so bringing it from home (when possible) makes life so much easier (and uber wallet friendly). These two worked perfectly. First recipe is a combination of blanched bok choy and bean sprouts (for 5-7 minutes) with sliced cucumbers, scallions and sesame seeds drizzled with a light Ponzu dressing. This Martha Stewart version looks equally as yummy. Next up, I tried Baba Ghanoush, a recipe that has been claimed by just about every Middle Eastern country as their own. As far back as I can remember, my mom used to make this as part of her 100+ Meze recipe collection. All you need is roasted egg plants, lemon juice, olive oil, garlic, and a scoop of yogurt (to make it white & creamy). Try the version from David Lebovitz with Tahini. Yum. I enjoyed this delicious dip with heirloom carrots. **I noticed the spelling mistake "cucumer" but blame it on sleeplessness and 11pm photo editing**
Have a good weekend

Do you have friends who shorten words? Like "ridiculous to "ridic" or "totally" to "totes" or "moment" to "momo" or "obviously" to "obvi"? Well, I work with two people who are probably the most creative when it comes to making English a much more efficient language. They are both good at abbreviating but who is the ultimate? Of course, this called for a competition. We created the Abbrev Off Challenge to see who can shorten with wit, delight and speed. I'm honoured and super excited to be a co-judge and chief creative content creator. Or the "C4"  if you wanted to abbrev that! Anyway, we'll watch these two go head to head soon. Hopefully a mash up video will come as a result. I'll keep you in the loop....

I'm totally in love with Of Monsters and Men and their single "Little Talks." I'm sure I'm totally late to discover them but there is nothing better than that feeling of discovery when it comes to music. This song has brought me so much joy all week... Not to mention some incredible goofy dancing around the house. "Dance like no one is watching" is exactly what I was doing. Their entire album is pretty awesome. Highly recommend you check them out. Aren't they adorable?
Have a good weekend

So those were the highlights of the week but what about the weekend? Tonight, we're checking out a friend's pizza place. Osteria 55. One of the dreamiest dreams is to own a little resto or cafe and I'm super excited to have a friend who'll be a restaurateur. Fun! Then a little chilling & chilaxing with some friends and family the rest of the weekend. Despite the weather network's insistence that it'll be cloudy and rainy weekend, I'm holding out hope for a sunny Saturday or Sunday. Because, this is what I want to do...
