Happy Valentine’s Day – Deal With It!

By Phjoshua @thereviewsarein

Grumpy Cat ValentineFact: Today is Valentine’s Day.

Fact: Many people, all over the world, will celebrate the day.

Fact: Couples will enjoy each other, profess their love, exchange gifts and tokens and symbols of their love.

Fact: Valentine’s Day is a commercialized holiday that makes a lot of money for a lot of people.

Fact: So are Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, Canada Day, July 1st.

Here’s the thing – I love Love. And I love that Valentine’s Day is a day that people use to celebrate the love that they have in their lives – for friends, family, lovers, partners, spouses – whomever!

Now, if you don’t happen to like Valentine’s Day because it’s a “Hallmark Holiday” or you have bad memories of the day or you’re not into it for whatever reason you happen to have – that’s cool! It really is. But don’t go posting all over the interwebs about how this is just another Thursday. Or how Valentine’s Day is meaningless or the worst or you hate it.

Why do you want to drag everyone else down on a day that they have planned and enjoy?

Also, every one of you who hates Valentine’s Day and has posted about that fact today has a friend or loved one who is excited to celebrate it or can’t wait to get a Valentine or to send one. And guess what – they love you too!

And more than today is about candy and cards and money – it’s about how people feel and love.

And I love Love.

Today I am celebrating with Trish, who I love very much.

Today would have been my grandparents 66th anniversary. I’m sure my grandpa will think about that today and how much he loved my gran and still does.

Today is also my dad’s birthday. Happy birthday pops.

Today is Valentine’s Day. The same as it has been for a long, long time. Longer than any of us have been around. Longer than it has been commercialized. And it will continue to be celebrated long after we’re gone.

You are all loved today. And you were all loved yesterday and will all be loved tomorrow.

So smile and enjoy the day – and whether you’re celebrating or not – BE AWESOME!
