Mothersday is coming up! In austria mothersday is scheduled on the second sunday of May. This year we decided to celebrate all together, so my grandmother will come to visit vienna for the weekend as well. since both, my mother and grandmother love marzipan, I decided to make marzipan orange and chocolate coated truffles as a take away or bring home gift, when I will be having a brunch at my place. I think receiving truffles is always adorable, espescially when they are made from scratch. And mothersday is the perfect occasion, don’t you agree? What are you planning to do? Do you have any traditions?

This is what you will need…

  • 200g marzipan
  • 200g chocolate
  • 1 orange zest, grated
  • as a topping: sprinkles, lavender, dried flowers, gold dust or anything you can think of

Roll out the marzipan, sprinkle orange zest on top and knead into dough. Prepare a baking sheet to set the truffles on. Form orange marzipan to small balls. Melt chocolate over water bath. When melted toss formed truffles in chocolate and lay on prepared parchment paper. Sprinkle your favorite decoration on top and let cool in fridge.

If you like you can wrap it in plastic foil, put in a small box or tin… perfect as a gift!

Enjoy giving away (or eating it yourself ;) )

xx
