Released as part of Saddle Creek‘s Document series which highlights some of esteemed label’s favorite acts who are not yet part of their family, Hand Habits (also known as Meg Duffy to her friend and family) is an artist you’ll want to hear more from after just one listen. Hailing from upstate New York, the Hand Habits sound is both understated and charismatic. ‘Yr Heart’ opens in countryfied style while Meg sings with zeal and verve about starting a fire and then letting people see her vulnerabilities. There’s a change in tone as more effects join the largely acoustic instrumentation and she ponders how ‘There’s a million ways to fuck with fate’ and ask people to justify what they need. She then delivers the haunting line ‘I will not harm you. I will not alarm you’…
