The Deutsches Museum in Munich is one of the great technology museums of the world, and I was fortunate to visit the facility during a recent vacation. Overseas travel always offer opportunities to see odd/rare/classic indigenous aircraft. The most notable feature of this Hansa Jet is the forward-swept wing. This arrangement allows the wing spar to pass through the fuselage behind the passenger cabin without decreasing cabin volume. First flown in 1964, production ceased after 47 were built, due to increased competition and a poor safety record. It may be the only civilian jet ever to use a forward-swept wing.
