Half Marathon Training Week Four

By Heathernichole
This week was not the best. In fact, it may have been my last week training for a half marathon. Things started out great. I took Monday off as my rest day because it was a scheduled rest day and I was extremely sore from the week before.
Half Marathon Training Week Four
I ran three miles and lifted on Tuesday and I felt amazing! I felt so strong and fit and I was extremely proud of all that I have accomplished.
Half Marathon Training Week Four
Wednesday came and I ran the five miles that were on my plan. This was the longest I had run outside at one time this year. I ran almost the whole time. I did walk up the hills but then I’d start running again as soon as I reached the top. I had good music to get me through and the weather was just right.
Later that night I started to feel some pain in my left hip. I knew it was not normal. The next morning I woke up and I did not feel any better. It actually hurt to walk. I decided to take the day off from running because I didn’t want to push myself. Friday came and I was still feeling some discomfort. Saturday the same thing. I was ready to go to the gym and on my walk there I decided I was going to have to spend my cardio time on the elliptical. And then this morning my left leg was in pain. I don’t know what the heck I did to myself but I am going to take a step back from running for a little while.
I am not happy with my decision. I was really starting to love running again but I do not want to end up with an injury. The only good thing about this is that I will have more time for lifting!
