Hair And There Thoughts On Our Final Fashion Friday

By Steph's Scribe @stephverni

Hair And There Thoughts On Our Final Fashion FridayI’m going to say goodbye to Fashion Fridays for now, but I’ll resurrect them in the spring just in time to post your spring shopping checklist. For now, you’ll have to take into consideration some of the things I’ve suggested, use your fall/winter checklist when you shop, and work your own magic with the pieces and accessories you collect and wear this fall.

Some final thoughts on personal style:

Jennifer Aniston’s easy-breezy style.

On Clothing—Here’s what not to do: Don’t avoid a look just because you think you can’t afford it or because you’re afraid to try it. Clip it out, and find pieces that are similar to that expensive look you saw in a magazine or catalog. Remember this: Style is about being yourself and creating a look that suits YOU.

Julia Roberts dazzles in a fitted suit.

On Hair—Every once in a while, it’s important that we reinvent ourselves, too. Maybe not to the extent that Madame Madonna does, but we do have to evolve and change, and yes, age does play into how we dress.

Hair plays an important role in our overall style. Think Anna Wintour. Think Lisa Rinna. Think Michelle Williams, Jennifer Aniston, Halle Berry, Julia Roberts, Katie Couric, Oprah, and Ellen. Their hair works in conjunction with what they wear and their sense of fashion.

Oprah knows what works for her figure. Looks great.

When this last birthday came to pass, I realized I have to come to grips with the fact that I’m advancing chronologically. Age and I have never been good friends. But, as I said to my husband the other day, I think it’s time adjust my long hair. Sometimes when we try too hard to look “young,” the look can age us instead. I’ve had to embrace my age, and believe me, it ain’t easy. Therefore, I’m contemplating what my new style will be. Even as I write this, I have no idea what look I’m going for…I only know I have an appointment next Saturday, and something is going to happen in that salon chair. Outcome unknown.

Michelle Williams’s daring hair. Love.

On Being Happy and Heels—There are so many things that allow us to be happy with ourselves, and they can come in the form of family, friends, love, fashion, how we feel about ourselves, if we are challenged, if we love what we do for a living, if we give back to our communities, if we have some sort of spiritual connection, and if we value who we are. Be happy with yourself. If you don’t like the way you look, you have the power to change it. If you wish you could alter your career path, you can (I’m living proof!) change it. Whatever it is, most things are within your control.

As Glinda the Good Witch said, just click your heels and find your way.
